Looking to go away on a girly weekend next October where we can just eat our away across the town.

Where would you go to eat amazing food? Doesn't need to be a posh, just good quality.

Would be good if there were other nice things to visit nearby, but it's all about the food!

The Lakes, lots of local produce

missyB1 · 06/10/2019 20:39

Ludlow in Shropshire.

BlueMoonRising · 06/10/2019 20:41

Edinburgh. To see the evidence, watch sorted food's Edinburgh marathon on YouTube

Shalom23 · 06/10/2019 20:42

I second Ludlow

episode one here
gobbynorthernbird · 06/10/2019 20:44

The lakes and Edinburgh, as above. And Manchester.

Sunshinelollipops1 · 06/10/2019 20:45

As others have said Ludlow. It use to have more Michelin stars then any place outside London. They often have really good foodie markets. Also some beautiful walks.

Maidenhead/Bray/Marlow lots of Heston Restaurants in Bray, Tom Kerridge restaurant and pub in Marlow, Waterford Inn and Roux at Skindles (Maidenhead).

Ellabella989 · 06/10/2019 20:45

Edinburgh or lots of the Yorkshire villages/towns

Twinklegreen · 06/10/2019 21:00

Whitby

EdithWeston · 06/10/2019 21:07

Oakham

Hambleton Hall for really posh, Barnsdale Lodge for fairly posh, oodles of excellent pubs and other hotels all worth eating at.

Close to the home of the pork pie and of Stilton cheese

As well as farmers' market and ordinary market, there's a huge new posh food hall a few miles away at Gates garden centre (if you want to take food home with you). Gates also has an awesome Christmas shop which usually opens no later than autumn half term

CherryPavlova · 06/10/2019 21:17

Dartmouth
Isle of Wight is surprisingly foodie with local produce, good restaurants and seafood aplenty.
Bath

Paddy1234 · 06/10/2019 21:17

Another one for Ludlow ❤️

alwaysmovingforwards · 06/10/2019 21:18

London

Cismyfatarse1 · 06/10/2019 21:19

Edinburgh. And book the amazing Nell Nelson and her Edinburgh Food Safari. Through the Georgian NewTown.

Totally fab. Plus can be done with gin too.

WingingWonder · 06/10/2019 21:20

Ludlow
Also Shrewsbury not too far away good too

lakeswimmer · 06/10/2019 21:21

The Lakes - I think there's four Michelin starred restaurants and lots of other good places to eat.

Pukkatea · 06/10/2019 21:23

Edinburgh cannot be beaten for reasonably priced food places in an amazing city - I was astonished at how great everywhere was!

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 06/10/2019 21:25

Glasgow is amazing for not having to spend a bomb but eating REALLY well.

FrowningFlamingo · 06/10/2019 21:25

Suffolk? Southwold or Lavenham both good foodie places.

paperandfireworks · 06/10/2019 21:25

Edinburgh, as above. Or Belfast.

DropZoneOne · 06/10/2019 21:29

Go to Jersey for Tennerfest!
www.tennerfest.com/

Fixed price menus across the island or if you don't fancy those there's a huge choice of restaurants from beach cafes to Michelin starred tasting menus.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 06/10/2019 21:32

Ludlow lovers, can you suggest somewhere nice to eat that will serve fish and chips to my Nan and fish fingers to my toddler but something nicer to me?

Cyberworrier · 06/10/2019 21:42

Belfast has lots of excellent restaurants, that are really reasonably priced in comparison to London. Such a friendly and interesting city too. Easy to see a lot over a weekend and eat and drink very well!

SachaStark · 06/10/2019 21:45

Falmouth, in Cornwall. The town is just a single street of great, non-chain restaurants with lots of different styles of cuisine. I’d particularly recommend the Caribbean, South African and local seafood places!

Jade308 · 06/10/2019 21:49

Bristol. Loads and loads of independent places in Wapping Wharf. Amazing street food in St Nicks Market.
