Shared parental leave should be mandatory: the father should need to take as much time away from work as he mother. This would mean that discrimination against women would reduce. And men would get to bond (and take a share in the work of childrearjng)

C sections should be offered to all mothers who want them.

Recovery from a c section (well, a planned one) is easier than that of having a baby come out your vagina

Mammylamb · 06/10/2019 22:07

And having kids with a man without being married is stupid (unless you are financially independent and intend to remain that way)

pinkelephantsanddietcoke · 06/10/2019 22:08

Gin tastes shit.

Venger · 06/10/2019 22:08

I'm a nursery teacher in a school who has had to deal with an inordinate amount of shit and piss the last 3 weeks.

It sounds like you're in the wrong job. It's normal for children who are previously potty trained to regress a little after a major change such as starting school. Some of those children still in pull-ups will have SN but are too young to have been diagnosed yet so at this moment are just considered to be "behind". Some of them will have medical issues you are not aware of, for example DS has encopresis which his teacher and the SENCO are aware of but the class TA and parent volunteers are not because he has a right to confidentiality. In addition, you are dealing with very young children. Shit happens. Literally. If you can't deal with it then maybe don't work with them.

Runningmyultra · 06/10/2019 22:08

I loathe prosseco, gin and bloody spa days

pinkelephantsanddietcoke · 06/10/2019 22:09

@Runningmyultra cross post! I do like Prosecco but Spa Days can do one!!!! 😂

This thread will be deleted by the end of tomorrow.

Probably.

Mammylamb · 06/10/2019 22:19

@70isaLimitNotaTarget you’re allowed to tell people that they are fat. But they are allowed to tell you that you are a judgemental twat.

However, the rest of your post is correct. I’m a fat person and it’s because I eat too much and don’t exercise enough. And despite being fairly intelligent and knowing this; I still struggle to eat well and get my fat arse into gear.

No fat person is unaware that they are fat

Sandsnake · 06/10/2019 22:23

I think Strictly is a little bit boring.

OhTheRoses · 06/10/2019 22:35

The NHS is free only at the point of delivery. Grateful therefore if those who work for it, mainly hospital admin, would mind awfully removing the gum from their gobs when speaking to me.

I myself. John and myself. It's just wrong.

Mookie81 · 06/10/2019 22:59

If you can't deal with it then maybe don't work with them.
Oh bore off. I've been doing this job for years and I know which cases are SN and which are laziness. I have spoken to all the parents during home visits and it's the ones with SN children that are actively engaging with the school and working as a team to support this, the NT parents are the problem.
This is UO, I'm allowed to rant and you don't have to agree, but I haven't come back at anyone here about their opinions I don't agree with Hmm.

UnderperformingSeal · 06/10/2019 23:03

@MeredithGrey1 Bohemian rhapsody is an overrated song.

Agreed. Disjointed, pretentious and over-long.
For that matter, John Lennon's wrist-slashingly depressing Imagine is equally overrated.

Nutellalovesme · 06/10/2019 23:05

@HotSince82 agreed

Idontwanttotalk · 06/10/2019 23:05

Benedict Cumberbatch is not good - looking.

Education has been seriously dumbed down. GCE 'O' levels only meant you'd achieved an Ordinary level of education. GCSEs are a lower level so what does that say about today's level of education?

Babies with chubby legs aren't cute. They just look like Sumo wrestlers or Michelin men.

Dressing as a woman, wearing make-up and a wig will never turn you into a woman. You are and will always remain whatever sex you were born as.

Transexuals or those self-identifying as a particular 'gender' should not use men or women's toilets, changing rooms or hospital wards. They should have their own.

The MMR jab is too much to give a child in one go. I believe it can cause health issues.

We shouldn't moan about climate change when we aren't prepared to give up flying to holiday destinations or driving cars.

Clothes look better if they are ironed.

Beards and moustaches are awful. Just shave.

I can't stand inarticulate people who resort to the c**t word rather than learn how to express themselves without such bad language.

If 1000 people say one thing and 1 person says the opposite, it doesn't follow that the1000 are automatically right.

All British TV soaps are rubbish.

StCharlotte · 06/10/2019 23:13

There's absolutely no reason in this day and age not to be vegan or at best vegetarian.

Bacon.

Checkmate Wink

Venger · 06/10/2019 23:14

I've been doing this job for years and I know which cases are SN and which are laziness.

Wow, perhaps you should lend your diagnostic powers to the NHS. They spend a fortune on the assessment process so someone who simply "knows" would save them a fortune.

When DS was in reception even we, his parents, didn't know yet that he wasnt NT. We knew he wasn't developing in the way we expected - and that included soiling himself multiple times a day - but SN was not even mentioned at that point and school kept insisting nothing was wrong, he was fine, they had no issues during the school day aside from the toileting. Four years later he was diagnosed with autism, amongst other things.

So no. You don't know which cases are SN and which are laziness no matter how many years you've been in the job.

jennymanara · 07/10/2019 00:44

@venger Any nursery teacher from 35 - 40 years ago will tell you that it did not used to be the case. Cloth nappies did seem to help children be toilet trained at a younger age.

TheLime · 07/10/2019 00:52

My favourite threads on MN are those where loads of high earning middle class people gather to talk about what they spend their money on. I absolutely love them.

Caesarean section should only be performed for medical need, not on request.

Center Parcs is a fabulous family holiday.

jennymanara · 07/10/2019 01:02

Some parents reinforce and exacerbate anxieties in their children.
In general in Britain people are getting more selfish as the years go by.
The benefits of breastfeeding are over rated.
Attachment parenting is not necessary for your child to have a healthy attachment to their parent.
Mumsnet was not amazing in the past and very different to now.

bakedbeanzontoast · 07/10/2019 01:09

David Bowie is overrated
Greta Thunberg is annoying
Anyone can get a degree
I don't think people really get behind the whole body positivity movement
Corbyn is hugely irritating - at least boris doesn't pretend not to be a wanker

People who have “had enough of experts“ should refrain from being seen by medical professionals and consultants if they have illnesses and symptoms. Jim from down the road, who went to “the University of life” and the “School of hard knocks”, can diagnose your symptoms, since you respect his views on the global economic situation and the meaning of our legal and financial entanglements with Europe more than those of the world’s leading economists. No respect for one sort of expert? You don’t get to benefit from any expertise. Let’s see how anti-intellectualism works out for you.

bakedbeanzontoast · 07/10/2019 01:23

I agree with loads of the opinions listed on this thread..☺️ ESP many of the climate change ones.

I also think there should be quiet areas in cafes, restaurants, planes also.

ArizonaRobbins · 07/10/2019 01:33

I think the benefits of breastfeeding are vastly overstated and cannot for the life of me understand why some women talk about it like it’s some kind of religion. It really doesn’t matter, in the grand scheme of things. It really doesn’t.

OhTheRoses · 07/10/2019 01:55

I agree with Arizona Robins.
