Wife Chucked Out Our Wedding Cards While I Was Away

AIBU to feel a bit annoyed?

I was away with work and she did a massive and long overdue clearout of the whole house which was awesome. But in the process she found a big pile of cards we'd received at our wedding. And she binned them. Without asking me.

I don't think I knew we still had them, or where they were exactly, or what I'd have said if she had asked me. But in a million years I'd never have chucked them without asking her first.

We've had some issues recently so this feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth.

She's like, "but they're just cards with happy wedding day written in them"!

How the hell can it be a kick in the teeth when you weren't even aware you still had them? Are you just looking for a reason to be pissed off? They can't mean much to you if you never bothered to ask where they were since your wedding.

I have an umilbilical cord in my sock drawer, but I don't know whose it is blush
Just make sure you run it past your dp if you’re throwing it out.

I don't know where ours are - I'm sure we have them somewhere - but if DH came across them and threw them out without even running it by me I'd be really upset!

Maybe they are just bits of paper gathering dust, but I'd want to at least have a say in what we did with them - even to just read through them and reminisce about the people who sent them (some of whom have since died) before getting rid of them.

I'm not sentimental, but in my opinion "not knowing where they are" doesn't mean "chuck them without even asking".

If you didn't care enough to know whether you still had them or where they were, why should you care that they were thrown out?

Sounds like you are looking for an argument.

Is this a reverse?

Please get a grip. Or do the clear out yourself.

DisgruntledOfWorcester · 05/10/2019 21:35

It's not a reverse.
