www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/4778321/a-monster-supercat-is-on-the-loose-after-terrorising-two-young-children-in-their-london-garden/

Large cat acting normally (by the sounds of it) around some kids. Mother freaks out and chucks a toy horse at said cat who bites it while mother drags said children into the house. Horse is 'destroyed' yet looks untouched in the sad face photos.

It's bonkers, isn't it?

I know the cat is larger and different to the average moggy but it's hardly a lion on the rampage...

It's not a serval, @Tensixtysix! They're much bigger with much longer legs: '54–62 cm (21–24 in) at the shoulder and weighs 9–18 kg (20–40 lb).'

Looks like a Savannah cat. It is gorgeous, though.

HUZZAH212 · 01/10/2019 16:16

I particularly enjoyed the part she discusses 'only having glass separating her from it'. Clearly she was concerned the cat would break through the patio window and destroy herself and her kids (after it made zero impact on the horse).

TomHagenMakesMyBosomTremble · 01/10/2019 16:25

I knew this would be about a Savannah Cat or a Maine Coon!

I have a Bengal. Earlier generations may have been wilder (I've met a vicious one) but mine is lovely. She's gentle, loving and is actually afraid to go out- she gets bullied by local cats. I think the breed has calmed down. The Savannahs I've seen have been big for pet cats but not as big as this lady claims.

FatRambo · 01/10/2019 16:30

That's hilarious. I have a cat that's much bigger than that, with bigger teeth, and no collar. Send the reporters round!

longwayoff · 01/10/2019 16:30

There are some lovely savannahs on utube.

PinkOboe · 01/10/2019 16:31

God yes, we've got a Bengal that terrorises the other neighborhood cats. mine has succumbed to repeated cystitis (£70 a time at the vet) and keeps weeing inside all over the house because she's so stressed. i think dark thoughts about that bastard

ScreamingValenta · 01/10/2019 16:36

Don't you need a licence for F1 Savannahs? I didn't think they were allowed to wander loose - they should be walked on a lead or kept in an enclosure when outdoors.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 01/10/2019 16:42

Yes, but the one in the video clip didn't look F1 tbh. Possibly not even a 2. Ears looked wrong.

(*Disclaimer - not an expert 😁)

FunkyKingston · 01/10/2019 16:43

The Savannahs I've seen have been big for pet cats but not as big as this lady claims.

Assuming her 4 year old is about 1m high, the toy horse looks about 45cm and the cat is significantly smaller than the toy horse so big for a cat, but not huge by any stretch. Maybe 25cm high at the shoulder. My cat is quite leggy, but he's asleep so I can't measure him.

ScreamingValenta · 01/10/2019 16:45

MilkTwoSugarsThanks You sound more expert than I am - I was just going by the size. Grin

MojitoMojitoo · 01/10/2019 16:46

I have never heard of Bengals being viscous or having bad temperaments. Mine is a little love bug who sleeps on my pillow cuddled up to my head every night!

Tonnerre · 01/10/2019 16:48

10/10 for the sadface pics, they are masterpieces of their kind. Even the horse is looking pissed off.

WiddlinDiddlin · 01/10/2019 16:51

Im very worried by the idea of her as a Dr if she cannot tell a domestic cat from a cheetah... if she thinks it was thigh high when its clearly shorter than the toy horse she threw at it, and if she thinks it playing with a toy is savage, vicious behaviour...

Did she buy her Doctorate online?

FunkyKingston · 01/10/2019 16:53

My long legged but small framed cat measures 21cm at the shoulders. So that cat looks well within the range of a big to average cat.

LisaRoundTheMulberryBush · 01/10/2019 16:53

I can't get over the kids posing with the 'utterly demolished' toy Grin

Tonnerre · 01/10/2019 16:53

I particularly enjoyed the part she discusses 'only having glass separating her from it'. Clearly she was concerned the cat would break through the patio window and destroy herself and her kids (after it made zero impact on the horse).

Unless she's extremely irresponsible, I suspect the glass in question was unbreakable, too.

Also enjoying the gratuitous mention that the neighbourhood the monster is wandering around in includes slebs like Kate Moss and Jude Law. Because that makes it so much worse, of course.

Jengnr · 01/10/2019 16:55

Haven’t checked the scum link but that thing in the youtube video is horrible.

I’d be scared if one of them was after my kids.

QuestionableMouse · 01/10/2019 16:55

Here's my panther, just for comparison.

If she wants to see what a demolished toy looks like, let a sausage dog puppy loose on it for half an hour.

twerp.

Beautiful looking cat.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/10/2019 17:02

The child you can hear in the video seems mildly concerned about the cat getting splinters from the decking, not 'terrorised'. Grin

Sammy867 · 01/10/2019 17:05

It looks just the same height as a Bengal tbh and definitely not a f1 which would be bigger with bigger ears. My Bengal is lovely and wouldn’t hurt a fly (I have seen her try to catch them but she is rubbish at hunting) but they are very long cats whereas other domesticated cats always look a stubby in comparison.

Ambidexte · 01/10/2019 17:07

Even the horse looks pissed off.

Grin
SleepyKat · 01/10/2019 17:27

She's a doctor and she thought it was a cheetah

My thoughts exactly, so much so I checked on the GMC register to make sure she is a bona fide doctor and not a Gillian McKeith style doctor. Surprisingly she is a real doctor. 😁

pigsDOfly · 01/10/2019 17:31

Love the way they keep describing it as a 'beast'. It's a bloody cat, albeit a fairly large one.

If she thinks it looks as big as a cheetah I suggest this rather silly woman needs to go to spec savers; oh, and look up the meaning of the word demolish in a reliable dictionary.

Fresta · 01/10/2019 17:41

It's not a standard moggy is it? The domestic cat has been domesticated for so long that it is now a sociable and harmless animal, not prone to aggression and has lost much of it's wild instincts. Cross-breeding it with bigger and wild species of cats is asking for trouble. This practice needs to be stopped and regulated now before we have a problem on our hands. That cat in the video link provided by a poster over the page is much bigger and stronger than a normal cat and could do serious damage to a small child or another cat or dog. Cats like this are not safe to be allowed to roam outside like domestic cats.
