To think this story is utterly bonkers?

www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/4778321/a-monster-supercat-is-on-the-loose-after-terrorising-two-young-children-in-their-london-garden/

Large cat acting normally (by the sounds of it) around some kids. Mother freaks out and chucks a toy horse at said cat who bites it while mother drags said children into the house. Horse is 'destroyed' yet looks untouched in the sad face photos.

It's bonkers, isn't it?

I know the cat is larger and different to the average moggy but it's hardly a lion on the rampage...

The bigger story is, who pays 6k for a cat and then allows it to wander freely around a London?

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 01/10/2019 15:22

I personally don't think Savannahs should be kept as pets (and if I'm totally honest I'm not convinced about Bengals either) because of their size and temperament.

But if Neetu thinks that toy pony suffered a mauling she wants to see my own bog-standard moggy with his kicker toy. She'd crap her pants 😂

hsegfiugseskufh · 01/10/2019 15:26

it wont be a full savannah, surely? its too small.

could it be a Bengal x savannah?

even so, its a bloody pet cat. What would you expect any cat to do with something you threw at it?

Soubriquet · 01/10/2019 15:27

I agree about not keeping savannah cats as pets

They are a wild breed for a reason

I know you can get servals too but you need a dwal for them.

Ambidexte · 01/10/2019 15:27

"Cat goes into garden and plays with toy that somebody threw at it" SHOCKER

Vinorosso74 · 01/10/2019 15:31

This really made me laugh! No way iabthe cat taller than the children.
Our 4.3kg white and black cat likes chewing things (Lego his is usual choice of toy) and no doubt would have has a chomp on the hoof too. I wonder if he'd have made the news in her self promotion?

Jaxhog · 01/10/2019 15:32

I also agree about Savannahs. They aren't suitable as pets.

As for the stuffed horse - you should see what my moggy used to do to a live squirrel. Lot of mess though.

Rachelover60 · 01/10/2019 15:34

Well it certainly a bigger than average cat but at least it does look like an ordinary, albeit exotic, cat and not a puma or anything like that. You hear stories about those sometimes, usually escaped from somewhere.

CAG12 · 01/10/2019 15:37

If you read my comments it was before I looked at the pictures. Im well aware what a maine coon is.

BrassTactical · 01/10/2019 15:37

cats don’t get splinters Alex

Aww those kids are cute. But clearly terrified Grin

wowfudge · 01/10/2019 15:38

That cat is beautiful. If it's taller than her children, how big are the toy horse and th scooter? She just didn't know it's a domesticated breed.

Hannah021 · 01/10/2019 15:40

oh wow this looks like a huge cat, compared to the big horse toy !! I'd freak out if I See this in my garden !!

QuestionableMouse · 01/10/2019 15:44

Glad it's just not me who thinks it's mental.

I'm 100% sure that my standard moggy would bite a soft toy if I threw it at her. Its hardly a sign that she's vicious.

OP posts:
Rachelover60 · 01/10/2019 15:47

I expect the cat was a bit wary of the children and probably the children were of the cat. That's quite natural.

It certainly is a beautiful cat.

FunkyKingston · 01/10/2019 15:47

Celeb cosmetic surgeon seeks to boost profile non story.

If she thinks the cat is bigger than her children then i would be disinclined to let her surgically rearrange my face as her sense of scale and proportion is clearly out of whack I'd go on for a a nose job and end up with a 9ft conk.

mistermagpie · 01/10/2019 15:51

This made me laugh, there is a lot of misunderstanding about Savannah's out there clearly. I have Bengals myself but I have friends with Savannah's and they are really no bigger than a standard cat! Nor are they any more aggressive either.

DahliaLoveMe · 01/10/2019 15:53

Apparently it was dumped as a kitten, and has been nicknamed "The Purrminator" Grin

Tensixtysix · 01/10/2019 15:57

It's either a Serval or Savannah cat. Really it should be an indoor cat as they can be territorial and will attack other cats.
Same goes for some Bengal cats.
Lovely beast!

ExhaustedGrinch · 01/10/2019 16:00

I have friends with Savannah's and they are really no bigger than a standard cat Some savannah's are way bigger than a standard cat, I would think it would depend on if they were an F1/F2/F3/F4/F5 Savannah?

F1 Savannah here looks pretty big

ExhaustedGrinch · 01/10/2019 16:02

Having read the comments on the Youtube video I just posted I think that's actually a serval which explains maybe why it's bigger!

IWantMyHatBack · 01/10/2019 16:04

But... That's not a standard moggie, is it Confused

SuzieSunshine · 01/10/2019 16:04

Does anyone remember this story?? Not sure if link works......

adaline · 01/10/2019 16:04

A friend of mine has a Savannah - he's not full grown yet and he's already pretty big. She takes him out on a harness and lead! In fact, I met her when she came into my shop with said cat!

He's fantastic and very friendly. I secretly want to steal him Grin

AfterSchoolWorry · 01/10/2019 16:06

She's a doctor and she thought it was a cheetah?

Hmm
MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 01/10/2019 16:10

Nor are they any more aggressive either.

I have to disagree. I know two families with cats who are very distressed, scared to go out and soiling in the house due to being attacked regularly by local bengals.

I think they are breeds, like some dog breeds, that should only ever be owned (if at all) by experienced, knowledgeable, respectful cat owners who know damn well what they're doing. Unfortunately 99.99% of breeders aren't fussy enough about who they're selling to.
