Please please help me - I'm too fucking shy!

I've been to therapy for CBT but I can't progress, it didn't work for me. In fact It made me feel worse! I have cripplingly low self esteem which is probably the cause of it.

I've been subjected to nasty comments for being quiet, I've been picked on because I'm too bloody spineless to stand up for myself. I don't know how if I'm saying/ doing is the right thing. I'm constantly thinking people don't like me, am I annoying them etc

I honestly don't know what to do. I know I need to start small but even small things I can't seem to master. I honestly feel it's ruined my life. I don't even know how I even managed to meet dh who is so understanding of it all and doesn't give a shoot that I'm not a social butterfly but I do. I want to break free from this label.

Fair enough. As long as you understand that being defeatist only hurts you, and is a choice. Nobody is going to come and pull you out of where you’re at sadly, it’s in your hands and your hands alone.

You will have met people like, bu they were probably too shy to speak to you. Also be wary of comparing your inside to other peoples outsides. You can't know what fears and insecurities other people are feeling, even sometimes the ones who appear confident.

Dontcarewhatimdoing seriously, I have never met anyone like me! I wish I did so I didn't feel like such a loser!

So much of what you've said is how I see myself too, OP, and I'm older than you! I've lived where I live for 10 years and still haven't made a friend I could call on for a chat or a night out. What part of the country are you in? I'd meet up with you to practice our social skills!
