Dresses don't suit everyone

My friend says that there's a dress for everyone, but I disagree.

There is no dress on earth that suits me.

I'm 5'1, size 10-12, shockingly shit figure due to big weight loss years ago (loose skin). I've tried every single fabric, style and colour dress-wise but NOTHING looks remotely nice or flattering on me.

I'd love to wear casual dresses in the day, and thought once I lost weight I would be able to, but I think I actually have less confidence now.

Some people just don't suit dresses, right?

This thread is starting to make me concerned that I don't look as good in dresses as I thought!! I have mum tum and am a size 14/16 🤔 I live in maternity dresses at the moment, which are comfortable and fairly flattering?!

I was going to start a thread in S&B a while back for advice on how to get a dress to suit you, but thought I'd be laughed at Grin

My figure is just fucking 'beanpole'. No boobs, bum, just straight up and down and I look fucking shit in dresses. I've seen so many gorgeous ones that I just can't have. My knobbly knees and scrawny arms don't do me any favours.

The only dress that ever suited me was my prom dress years back, and I can't exactly be popping to Asda in that kind of get up Grin

May I suggest jumper dresses?

You can get ones that are not form fitting so don't cling.

They should suit everyone of any size.

I live in dresses and only recently started wearing trousers that flattered. I just assumed I was the wrong shape for them until dd gave me advice .
Enjoy trying them on.

I'm an apple. 5ft 4 and size 12-14. I randomly tried on this dress in French Connection and just loved it. It fits so well and makes it look like I have hips and an arse when I actually have none. And it has pockets.

If I buy sleeveless dresses I can easily alter them to fit on my machine.
Proper tailoresses would throw their hands up in horror as I just take them in under the arms or put in bust darts..but they are fine..can’t be seen
Wouldn’t faff on with a sleeved dress..in fact with sleeves you often don’t have to
But I hate that happy look on a sleeveless dress near the armholes
