To want a duvet that doesn’t bunch?!

Just that really.

Hit me with your recommendations for duvets that a) don’t bunch inside the duvet cover and b) the duvet filling itself doesn’t bunch.

Thanks Grin

Good quality duvets do not suffer from bunchy-filling syndrome. Mine have never bunched inside the cover either.

How do you get them to bunch?

Browniee · 26/09/2019 22:01

IKEA do great duvets, good value and ours has never bunched (and I’m duvet puller in my sleep) We have their summer duvet on all year round (I think the thinnest tog that they do) and just layer with a blanket during the colder months.

MrsBungle · 26/09/2019 22:02

Soak and sleep.

I’ve currently got the breath duvet from the fine bedding co. I really like it, no bunching even after a wash, plus I can chuck it in the washing machine if my kids spill anything on it.

OchMumItsJustMaBow · 26/09/2019 22:03

@highinthesky nice stealth boast there Hmm are you going to share where you got these duvets or just sneer at my inferior duvet choices? Confused

It’s feather, FWIW. Not cheap either!

Mines is a sainsbury's cheapo polyester filled job. Washes with no bunching and doesn't bunch up in the duvet cover either.

Qwerty19 · 26/09/2019 22:06

I have had ones that cost a lot and very cheap ones. Never bunched. Currently using an asda one

Hiphopopotamous · 26/09/2019 22:06

I have a nice John Lewis down duvet and I love it so much!

PorridgeAgainAbney · 26/09/2019 22:07

Ours is from M&S (few years old but DS's is the same design and only a year old) and it's designed with stitching in a grid pattern so that the down stays within its 'grid' and can't just bunch all in one area like a pillow does.

No idea how to stop the duvet from ending up bunching inside the cover though Wink.

NanooCov · 26/09/2019 22:08

Soak and Sleep. Mine has lovely pockets so no bunching.

dayQ · 26/09/2019 22:09

FastnetLundyRockall · 26/09/2019 22:09

We had a feather one until last week that was incredibly annoying with bunching up and leaving the duvet cover empty at the edges. Replaced with john Lewis breathable microfiber. MUCH better.

ladymalfoy · 26/09/2019 22:18

How old is it?
I hated the fact that our old duvet bunched and it was feather and down. It was 20 years old. Didn’t know as it was DHs. Bought new one with the square pockets. No bunching.
To be perfectly frank it’s cheaper to replace than return to get a re-fill.
We donate our old quilts to the dogs and cats home.

JellyMouldJnr · 26/09/2019 22:20

We just bought this and it's lovely! www.mitrelinen.co.uk/luxury-himalayan-duvet-105-tog/p_gu420

Claphands · 26/09/2019 22:25

I’ve got a feather and down duvet from John Lewis, but it still slips down in the cover, I pin the edges to the cover which helps but doesn’t completely stop it

MereDintofPandiculation · 26/09/2019 22:26

No idea how to stop the duvet from ending up bunching inside the cover though Sew a ribbon inside each corner of the cover. Sow another to each corner of the duvet. Tie the duvet to the cover at each corner.

You probably only need to do the two corners at the head of the bed, because bunching is usually towards the foot.

highinthesky · 26/09/2019 22:28

Is it a feather thing, I wonder? Never wanted down myself, but I can see how silky feathers might suffer from movement.

I take it all back: go and get a cheap synthetic duvet and see how that works out for you.

BikeRunSki · 26/09/2019 22:30

We got a wool duvet from Baavet last year. It does not bunch and stays still in the cover

BerthaCoutts · 26/09/2019 22:31

I have an £8 Asda quilt with no bunching problems at all Smile

BoreOfWhabylon · 26/09/2019 22:32

Soak and sleep. I have their silk-filled ones.

Seeingadistance · 26/09/2019 22:34

I bought a silk-filled duvet this summer and it has been amazing! No bunching at all!

RaymondStopThat · 26/09/2019 22:39

Yes, a wool duvet will solve the problem. I bought mine from Soak and Sleep, but have had awful customer service from them since, when they sent a damaged item, so can't recommend them (ended up with a king side duvet cover and only one usable matching pillow case - they couldn't have been less helpful). Devon Duvets' customer service is excellent so would definitely suggest looking there.

PickAChew · 26/09/2019 22:44

We have a nice wool duvet from John Lewis which doesn't bunch and a great big fucking hot warm "feels like down" duvet from Debenhams (a few years ago before everything went tits up) which doesn't bunch but the fabric doesn't half rustle!

Mermaidtissues · 26/09/2019 22:45

I have a cheap Sainsbury’s duvet, no bunching problems here

alphabetQ · 27/09/2019 03:17

I second IKEA duvets—we got one as a stop-gap a couple of years ago, but it's actually brilliant so never replaced it.
