Couple adopt 6 year old Ukrainian child who turns out to be 22 year old adult sociopath

I saw this online today and it's blown my mind, what are your thoughts?

In summary, a couple adopt what they believed to be a 6 year old Ukrainian child who was later found to be approx 22 after bone density tests etc.

The 'child' reportedly tried to hurt the family, doing things like trying to push the mother into an electric fence, pouring bleach in drinks and standing over people in the night threatening to kill them. The girl was found out to be an adult, diagnosed as a sociopath with a severe mental illness, and put on medication.

The family moved to Canada leaving the girl behind and have now been charged with abandonment, even though the girl is legally an adult.

Am I the only one wondering how the hell they got her DOB on her birth certificate changed? You'd think that's an incredibly rare process and the authorities would've required some actual proof.

Newer reports have said that the child is the age they were told and there are warrants out for their arrest. Horrible story.

The US has appalling adoption laws.

As for the girl, if she had early puberty and it was not treated with puberty blockers, she would indeed have ended up very short. A friend of my dd had a brain tumor when she was five which brought on puberty and she was given puberty blockers to give her time to grow.

Utterly grotesque whatever is the real story. Poor victim at the bottom of all of this, be she child, teen or adult now.

Probably. I’d imagine everyone else commenting has read the story, including the lengthy process that resulted in her DoB change.

That’s not my issue , if Natalia is a child it’s really not ok to refer to her as an adult sociapath.

I didn't realise the first picture was the mother, it looks nothing like her in the other pictures! I guess she must have used some sort of filter on it?

This article has pictures of the 'child', who looks like she has more adult teeth than my teenager .
