Just heard on R2 it's 20 years today since the cult British series Spaced was first aired. I remember watching it in my first year of university

A big thank you to Jessica Hynes and Simon Pegg - you were the first writers to really sum up my generation and make me rofl whilst doing so. Grin

Agree Mark Heap is awesome. He must get some kind of award for just continually cropping up in stuff and stealing the show in a very awkward way - Friday Night Dinner is another case in point.

Also love Marsha. Just everything you could ever want from a landlady

"She's got three languages and a dutch cap - she'll be fine!" Grin

The club episode with their DJ names is brilliant!

gwenneh · 24/09/2019 17:32

If I weren't expecting there would be "a splash of Vino Collapso" in celebration today.

Pimmsypimms · 24/09/2019 17:43

Ah, bloody loved spaced.
puddiiiing!!!

MrsTWH · 24/09/2019 17:46

I was an extra is Spaced series 2, I can’t believe how long ago it was! Loved Spaced so much. Still quote it often!

LaLoba · 24/09/2019 18:13

@79andnotout
I do the same with my collie. They should probably form a support group.

Thatnameistaken · 24/09/2019 18:23

Me and OH tell each other to "Skip to the end..." regularly during conversations, and we can't get jaffa cakes out of the cupboard without saying, "FOOKING JAFFA CAAAAKES!!!!!"

1Bobbinwinder · 24/09/2019 18:23

Love love love spaced. Whenever my housemates and I had had a heavy night and were feeling sorry for ourselves the next day, we'd put it on. Specifically the episode where they all go to the club.

I'd say I quote it daily - just with my husband otherwise that would become annoying very quickly.

House favourites:
"Sod Colin!"
"...a case of rolling right Inuit..."
"I'll just have a half" ( said about a biscuit, piece of cake, stock cube etc)
"I didn't have to"
"It's not finished... it's finished."
"Some like to slice it... some like to dice it".
"It's up and downs"

1Bobbinwinder · 24/09/2019 18:24

Haha @Thatnameistaken how could I forget "skip to the end"! I remember saying it without thinking to someone and as they weren't a spaced fan they thought I was just being breathtakingly rude

DappledThings · 24/09/2019 18:26

Other than announcing the births of my children my post liked FB status ever was:
Sometimes I quote Spaced and my husband looks at me blankly and I wonder if my whole marriage is a sham

DappledThings · 24/09/2019 18:26

Post = most obviously

Has it trebled in value?

zebrasdontwearbras · 24/09/2019 18:48

Bloody love Spaced! Yanbu. Happy Spaced Day Wine Grin

Cuppa12345 · 24/09/2019 18:52

Also another one that can't help quoting continuously...

"that reminds me, I must take out the rubbish..."

zebrasdontwearbras · 24/09/2019 18:53

And omg - 20 years Shock Of course it's been that long... my ds1 is 17 now, and dh and I used to watch it when we were still like Tim & Daisy Grin in the heady days before dc and parental responsibility

Still regularly watch it - have the dvds and it's on Amazon Prime at the moment. Made the teen DSs watch it recently too Grin

BeFire · 24/09/2019 18:53

I can't have half of anything without quoting Spaced.
I'm going to watch them all again. Now Grin

Cuppa12345 · 24/09/2019 18:54

'Skip to the end' comes in so handy all the time

Also, I can't help thinking 'dance for me colin! Dance for me!' every time I see that breed of dog 😂

thenightsky · 24/09/2019 18:54

Oh I loved Spaced. I wanted to be in the Rough Ramblers Grin

BanKittenHeels · 24/09/2019 18:56

Roll right Inuit. Grin

Butterchunks · 24/09/2019 19:02

Fried gold! If you've got the DVDs but not watched it with directors commentary then I highly recommend it. I wish they'd do a spaced +20 (like they did with this life+10), I'd love to know what Daisy and Tim (and everyone else) would be up to these days.

WeShouldOpenABar · 24/09/2019 19:03

Anyone else notice that Tino the artistic mouse in hey duggee is quite obviously based on a mix between Brian and Brians ex boyfriend played by David Walliams.

gwenneh · 24/09/2019 19:04

DH and I refer to any Miniature Schnauzers we see as "Colin".
