To have given up on holidays?

3 boys, all under 9, youngest is a toddler.

Holidays are just so hard, DH doesn't enjoy them as children are so loud and excited. Means I carry the majority of childcare / taking all 3 together all the time.

Tried caravans, tents, villa with extended family, apartments.

All have been hardwork and didn't seem worth it. A few moments of happiness but most of my time is spent cooking, shouting or feeling guilty.

We didn't do anything this year and I am tempted to not do anything this year either. 😐

Cruise with a kids club. They can't get lost because they're on a ship and there is food and drink 24/7.

Cruise with a kids club. How much would that cost, then?

missnevermind · 23/09/2019 08:58

Take you and the kids off to butlins.
I know MN isn't keen but it's made for them. Lots of activities. Go full board no cooking. As many beds or bedrooms as you need. Wear them out, let them sleep, start again the next day.

YANBU OP Holidays are wank

missnevermind · 23/09/2019 09:01

Sorry but I've made myself laugh now.
That's me and Mumsnet allover 😂
I'm raving on about Butlins and the poster above me wants a cruise 😂

Zenithbear · 23/09/2019 09:12

Imo your choice of holidays are the problem. As above poster. We did lots of cruises with kids club-worth every penny. They were even taken for tea so we had a meal in piece. We also did lots of UK half board hotels with a pool instead of caravans - always worked out similar price believe it or not.
And all inclusives or half board abroad. Only went self catering once, hated it and it cost a fortune.

PumpityPumpPump · 23/09/2019 09:26

Interesting you say about Butlins, we are going there in February for a long weekend. Just me, my sister and our children. Going half-board so hoping that will ease the pressure. Also no DH to be a fun sponge.

I looked at Oakhampton. It looks brilliant! £2200 for 5 days in July half term, is it worth it?

We did all inclusive in Ibiza this summer, one week, me, DH and 3 children aged 7 and under.
It cost around £2,000 for the 5 of us.
It was definitely worth it, short flight, guaranteed weather, pool and near the sea.

We also have a blow up tent so quick to do.

The above are from a few years experience of getting it wrong though 😂
