To hate sweetcorn with a roast!

Lovely roast pork, perfect roast potatoes, lovely roasted carrots and nice savory cabbage. Why would you ruin that with sweetcorn?

Sweetcorn goes in salad, with tuna mayo, corn on the cob with lovely bbq chicken. It doesn't go on a roast to taint the other food.

Sweetcorn is one of my absolute favourites, but my husband agrees it doesn't belong on a roast dinner but it doesn't bother me. However I don't understand mash potatoes on a roast?????

The only reason for putting sweetcorn with a roast would be fur fussy children who don’t eat any other veg.

Gosh you are lucky ! Sweetcorn horrid on a roast though imo .
My DH is cooking at the moment - a Gousto delight - and the crashing and banging in the kitchen is scaring the dog who's trying to sleep on my lap . I'm not moving - it's his turn to cook - ( once in a blue moon ! )

Sweetcorn with a roast is not acceptable. Even worse when it's covering other vegetables. Not good.

Courgettes are slimey bits of evil and peppers are for stir fries or salads.

I'm happy to be U about peppers and courgettes. My ideal roast would have them but I wouldn't serve them to anyone else. My dp can like sweetcorn on a roast but he shouldn't have put them on my plate and tainted my food stamps feet!

Roasts are wintry. Root veg and hardy things like cabbage. Things that can be bitter so roasting makes them sweeter.

Absolutely not to sweetcorn. Peas on sufferance. Baked beans with a roast would be an abomination.

I wouldn't have summer things like courgette either.

Love corn on the cob, growing like weeds at the moment. I feel like singing Oh What A Beautiful Morning every time I go into the garden, we have to eat it with everything.

Mostly YANBU. In this case, with cabbage, carrots and gravy, YAdefinitelyNBU. It’s the gravy that clinches it, I’d say.
But, with roast chicken, courgette and peppers, and probably little herby roast potatoes, sweet corn would be fine. (That’s a summer Sunday roast in this house.)
