To ask if your face sweats???

I’m in my late thirties and the last few months I’ve noticed my face sweats. I’ll travel for an hour or so and look a total mess by the time I get to wherever I need to be. I don’t wear particularly heavy clothing. Is it an age thing? It’s really disgusting.

Me, too! I have been like this all my life just about, and I hate it. It's humiliating to have people staring at me. My husband is good and helps mop it all away, but it crushes my self esteem at times. At least I now know I'm not alone.

pigaletta · 16/09/2019 22:46

@Plasebeafleabite oh that’s one of my dreams for when I win the lottery, just Botox all over my entire face, scalp and neck. I’d never have to feel like sweaty mess again Grin

Sarcelle · 16/09/2019 22:46

In the summer I get sweaty faced. This summer if I wore makeup I used urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. It really worked.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 16/09/2019 22:48

Coffeeandchocolate9 - if I hadn't had a severe eye infection that now makes me too wary about contact lenses I would wear them. My Mam's eyelids are the same, when we see each other we're adjusting each others smears like the two characters out of Death Becomes Her 😂

TateWorm · 16/09/2019 22:50

I get it badly too, whenever I go to a fitness class I need to make sure I have a towel with me as I need to use it constantly. I've always just put it down to my fibromyalgia as I'm often much warmer than everyone else.

I might try some of the ideas on here as it can be so embarrassing, even walking at a normal to fast pace can cause me to look like I've just done a marathon instead.

I was also on TV once a few years ago and the lights were awful for causing it too. The poor make up lady was having to run in to re-powder my face every time filming stopped.

Chocolatelover106 · 16/09/2019 22:50

My face sweats when I eat cheese..... I love cheese though!

TheDarkPassenger · 16/09/2019 22:50

Shiny face here too. Two words: setting spray

BlackberriesAndCream · 16/09/2019 23:01

Yes, hugely. Dripping, in the summer, really awful. Goes on for hours after I"ve come inside or somewhere cool even.

I use something called 'Secure' wipes, which you can get from online pharmacies after filling in a questionnaire etc. I found the link from the hyperhidrosis website, after trying everything else. It still happens, but perhaps bit less with these. I think I will try stronger ones next time.

Moongirl10 · 16/09/2019 23:08

Same here. My foundation has started melting off me by midday and powder just seems to then sink into my pores or go cakey. It’s a nightmare. I just wish I had normal skin like everyone else at work who looks good all day long!

Mumofboth · 16/09/2019 23:16

It’s actually quite sad how many people this is an issue for. I don’t usually wear much makeup but powder is a must for obvious reasons so I might invest in a setting spray.

I sweat in my face, mostly in the heat or when I exercise. I am 41 and overweight but it happened when younger and slimmer, I can never stand the heat.

When I was at the camera obscura in Edinburgh there was a camera that detected heat and as it was so hot I was boiling but my face in the video was cold whereas dh and ds were bright red-even though they were a comfortable temperature which I thought was weird.

I am also vit d deficient 🤔

maddening · 16/09/2019 23:23

Ps I am also wrinkle free at 41 and look younger than I am.

dollydaydream114 · 16/09/2019 23:34

@mum11970 It's not so much that I think they would comment, but more that they would be silently horrified! I'm convinced people will think I sweat because I'm fat but in fact I used to sweat just as much when I was a size 10.

I currently work out with a personal trainer (he has a little studio so it's private and nobody else is there to witness the horror) and he has assured me many times that loads of people sweat as much/more than I do but I can't quite overcome the hang-up yet.

I recently discovered that my sister has exactly the same issue, so maybe it's a genetic thing, I don't know!

thenightsky · 16/09/2019 23:37

My whole head sweats bucket loads. I can be freezing elsewhere and rarely sweat at all on my body, feet etc. The whole lot comes out of my head instead. I can't even get moisturiser onto the wet mess that is my face. My hair is stuck to my neck, temples and forehead all the time, like I just dipped my head in a bucket of water. I want botox all over my head.

Flower777 · 16/09/2019 23:40

Yes.
This has been a huge issue for me this summer in particular.
I hate it.

73kittycat73 · 16/09/2019 23:46

I've had it since becoming menopausal. It's very embarrassing when out in public. I get loads of hot flushes a day and even the slightest movement sets them off. My forehead and cheeks get very, very sweaty, as does my neck scalp, arms and underboob. The face is the worst. I wish it would stop.

hittheroadjack1 · 16/09/2019 23:53

Under my eyes sweat, I've not been able to wear mascara on my bottom lashes for years.

No forehead sweat due to Botox.

NewtonPulsifer · 17/09/2019 00:13

Yes! Me too. I’m not alone, I thought I was. I have always had a sweaty head. My forehead and top lip in particular, and yes to the slightest thing setting it off. I loathe winter for going into shops that have the heating cranked up. I also rarely sweat elsewhere on my body.
I cannot wear my hair down as it makes me too hot.
Interesting theory about arm pit anti perspirant... I tried Odaban on my face (have to shield eyes with swim goggles) and it works brilliantly to stop the sweaty face but it just diverted the sweat to my neck and back, where I never sweat. 🤔 might try a deodorant rather than an anti perspirant on my pits to see if that makes a difference

BeepBeeep · 17/09/2019 01:47

Sticks sweaty face round the door and says. Me too.
Mine started around 10 years ago. Head and face run rivers, especially in warmer weather.
I gave up with make up and binned it. It was a waste of time.
I keep a face flannel in my handbag along with a mini fan.
I wouldn't mind if I had something wrong with me to cause it, but I don't,
I'm within my weight range, I'm not even menopausal and I'm in my mid 50s!
Its embarrassing, especially when attending a function. 😟

Flower777 · 17/09/2019 03:36

Next summer perhaps we could hire a resort and all go on holiday together so that no one will stare at our sweaty faces?

Blondephantom · 17/09/2019 06:02

Theatre make up setting spray before you apply and after you apply works wonders. I went from make up lasting a couple of hours at best to make up lasting twelve hours.

Dillydallyingthrough · 17/09/2019 06:17

Me too!! Late 30's in a meeting last week and suddenly my tache area starts sweating to the point its dripping, then my forehead starts and then I know it's over!!

Only started a couple of years ago, am anaemic and Vit D deficient....

OneKeyAtATime · 17/09/2019 06:35

Haven't read the whole thread but I sweat from the nose (!). I read somewhere that Lance Armstrong sweated from the face and recommended some form of perspirant for this. I tried and it did work ( with the extra benefits of climbing hills very fast ;) ). Can't remember the name as I don't use it anymore but the internet might help.

Bbang · 17/09/2019 10:36

I have this! It’s so embarrassing, I’m a sweaty person anyway pits, back, face, underboob you name it I swear from it. I use odaban, kills my skin cause I have sensitive skin but it’s worth it to stop the sweating! Got mine from the doctors but you can buy the same on amazon.

imclaustrophobicdarren · 17/09/2019 11:59

Mine does when I eat really salty crisps.

Not remotely helpful.
