To ask if your face sweats???

Mumofboth · 16/09/2019 20:13

I’m in my late thirties and the last few months I’ve noticed my face sweats. I’ll travel for an hour or so and look a total mess by the time I get to wherever I need to be. I don’t wear particularly heavy clothing. Is it an age thing? It’s really disgusting.

I’m 39 and I sweat more from my face than anywhere, it’s chronic.

If I get in any way rushed, or flustered, or hot..... I’m drenched. It’s gross.

Jollitwiglet · 16/09/2019 21:39

I've always suffered from a sweaty face, I genuinely thought it was normal and most people got sweaty faces Blush

ICouldBeSomebodyYouKnow · 16/09/2019 21:42

I've found my people Grin
I'm 60 and this has just started happening to me recently.

I shower, dry myself, eat breakfast, put moisturiser on (face), dry hair, get dressed then - just as I go to put make-up on, sweat starts pouring off me like Niagara Falls! I have to mop with a couple of tissues before I can start. Menopause is long behind me. I was pondering earlier this evening, why is this happening now??

PrincessandthePeach · 16/09/2019 21:44

Yes, I'm 19 and I've noticed this particularly in the last year or so. Don't have any idea what causes it. I could do my makeup and an hour later I can see the drops of sweat collecting on my face.
I do tend to sweat excessively though and have done since I was a child I think Blush

CheeseToastMarmite · 16/09/2019 21:49

My nose used to sweat when I ate cheese but it doesn’t anymore. However now I’m peri menopausal and although I’m not usually a sweaty person I’m turning into a walking furnace. Consequently a shiny face.

I do wonder if because we wear antiperspirant the sweat can’t come out of the armpits and comes out elsewhere?

AlanThePig · 16/09/2019 22:01

I use a gel called face saver. Works like a primer under makeup and does stop the sweating.

Evilmorty · 16/09/2019 22:03

I tried face saver and it made the swear clump up in to beads on my upper lip. I was so hopeful. I might try odaban then, does it sting much Confused

AlanThePig · 16/09/2019 22:09

I really got on with face saver the only annoyance with it for me is it takes ages to dry.

gingerbiscuits · 16/09/2019 22:21

Yep! 48yrs old, early menopause & my eyeliner has been sliding down my face for a few years now!! Being a woman SUCKS sometimes!!

myloveforfrazzles · 16/09/2019 22:23

My DH gets this, his face literally pours. Blotting papers help but that’s about it

BarrenFieldofFucks · 16/09/2019 22:23

My face is massively sweaty at the moment, even when I'm not at all hot

mum11970 · 16/09/2019 22:24

Yes, I have hyperhydrosis. Worse on my face and hairline than anywhere else, damn stuff literally runs down my face. It can be triggered by stressful situations, exercise, busy places like parties and going the cold outside to a hot shop in winter to name but a few. When everyone is a little warm I’m literally got pouring in sweat. I never exercise without a headband and towel. My whole body sweats more than most people but my face is the worst affected.

dollydaydream114 · 16/09/2019 22:26

I have this problem - my face, chest and back sweat embarrassingly badly if it’s warm or I’m exercising, but particularly my face. When I go for run it literally drips off my face and plops on to the floor Blush I won’t go to a public gym because it embarrasses me so much.

Weirdly, though, I don’t have unusually sweaty armpits.

It is something I started to notice much more in my 30s so I wonder if hormones have something to do with. My weight doesn’t seem to make any difference.

Girasole02 · 16/09/2019 22:27

I have Raynauds Disease so rarely sweat from anywhere. I wish I did.

OkayGo · 16/09/2019 22:29

I’m 31 and I have this. Bloody annoying and no amount of fixing spray etc can help. I just have to deal basically. I also have a weird sweaty reaction to raw carrots - I sweat just under my eyes when I eat them.

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 16/09/2019 22:32

I can't believe the are other people like me! My face and my head sweat so much, at work I have drenched hair, it's so gross.

I'm 35, but my graduation photo from when I was 21 proves that my face has always sweated. Bugger all point in make up for me. "Bonus points" because my hobbies are sweaty anyway Hmm Horse riding I can get away with it, partner dancing that's no hiding it! Thankfully I know a few like me in that hobby.

Driclor works for my face but I only use it for very special occasions as it cannot be good for you long term.

To the person who said that's what eyebrows for, it's our (well, my) whole darn face. Eyebrows help brow sweat. It's not particularly effective if your eyebrows themselves, cheeks, nose, jaw and your whole darn face turned the tap on like water is going out of fashion.

pigaletta · 16/09/2019 22:33

My face can get so sweaty! My best friend got married on a really hot day abroad and the makeup artist proclaimed this gel primer (maybe face saver @AlanThePig?) as ‘bulletproof’ and then did airbrush makeup as it’s supposedly longer lasting. Happy days, I thought. After about 15 mins in an admittedly very hot apartment while rushing around, the sweating started and it was like each pore on my face was rejecting the makeup, maybe because I was wearing so much. It looked awful! Stopped caring after the second hour of free bar, everyone was sweating by then anyway.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 16/09/2019 22:33

Isn't this pretty much what eyebrows are for? Confused

Yeah, sadly they don't do much for my 'tache sweat Grin

I hope I'm not the only one who gets greasy/sweaty where my glasses sit on my nose and ears - I have to clean my face/ears/glasses a few times a day as it irritates the hell out if me.

My parents are also very sweaty of face. Weather, weight gain/loss has no effect, but I am vit D deficit.

Mumofboth · 16/09/2019 22:35

Really interesting reading these replies. Like a lot of you, I’m not very sweaty anywhere else. Will definitely be trying facesaver, thanks for that. Fingers crossed. I’ll carry my tissues and just keep wiping 🙈

I've wondered this too, all mine comes out of my top lip, which is nice Sad

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 16/09/2019 22:37

Yes! This! Im 36 and my face in particular is so sweaty. Interesting with the vit D deficiency, I'm waiting on blood tests for a possible B12 deficiency so maybe its all linked!

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 16/09/2019 22:38

@thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter not just you. I get little clouds of condensation either side of my nose from upper cheek and lower eyelid sweat. Fucking delightful.

I'm ill at the moment and it's all so much worse. 10.37pm lying in bed and my pillow is drenched, and face wet.

Weirdly unsweaty feet, though they're the hottest part of me. Go figure.

Plasebeafleabite · 16/09/2019 22:40

Botox. Worth it just to stop the sunscreen running in your eyes

mum11970 · 16/09/2019 22:40

Dollydaydream I’m exactly the same. I wear a headband and take a towel to the gym with me and under no circumstances do I ever wear pale grey. No one ever comments on sweat in the gym so don’t be put off. I literally come into the gym dripping some days as I go for a 5k run first and have been known to slip in my own sweat when doing burpees.

FrownPrincess · 16/09/2019 22:43

I thought I was the only one with this problem! The sweat drips off my fringe and onto my glasses, I need windscreen wipers on a hot day Sad. I can never wear face cream of any kind in summer, and makeup slides straight off. Nothing stays on my sweaty face - except lumps of tissue when I wipe it!

The older I get, the worse the problem becomes. At eight years post-menopause there is no sign of it lessening - in fact I think it’s the worst it’s ever been. A pp mentioned cutting out dairy. Has anyone else tried modifying their diet with any success ?
