Please can I get some advice from people who know about iPhones? I’m in bits.

I’m sorry I know this isn’t really the right place to be posting this, but I need some advice. I think my battery is completely dead on my iPhone and this means I’ve now lost a lot of photos and videos of my children. I’ve tried plugging it in for a long time, tried the hard reset thing, and nothing is happening. Just a black screen!

I did have them backed up on GooglePhotos - or so I thought. They’re not showing on my google account at all Sad

What can I do now? Can I replace the battery and still keep my data? I’m actually unable to focus on anything right now and my anxiety is through the roof because I’m so devastated about potentially losing everything.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? And did you have a happy ending with your phone?

Take it to a phone place, loads of them all over the place these days, they will tell you if you need to worry or not

I hope you get it sorted.

The battery has nothing at all to do with how things are saved on a phone. If the battery or what ever is wrong is replaced the data will still be there. Take it to the apple shop, and set up automatic backups as soon as you can. It is possible for the drive to fail in some cases so you shouldn't rely on it.

Wonderful news everybody! I have my photos back! I cried happy tears in the shop Grin I bet I looked so silly but I don’t even care! So so so happy.

Oh, and I discovered they were all backed up under a different google account. A different one that I forgot about GrinHmm So they were all there anyway.

Great news, very pleased for you! Now make sure you know where you are backing them up in future Grin.

Yay 🎉

Your battery doesn’t store anything. Calm down and see a pro. Blimey.

fluffiphlox · 13/09/2019 18:21

Ah. I see you have. Enjoy your weekend.

Sparklemummyx0x0x · 13/09/2019 19:25

So was it the battery?

iphonemisery · 13/09/2019 20:44

It was the charging port. The battery wasn’t getting enough power to it to switch it back on. The store I went to wouldn’t touch it but they pointed me to a guy on a market stall who is really good. So he changed the charging port and it came back on!

Aw bless you! Technical disasters can be so soul destroying. Really glad you got it sorted and haven’t lost your precious pix!
