To tell you how I cleared my problem spots/ cold sores?!

Hi all!

Grim subject I know but I just wanted to spread the news about something miraculous that worked for me!

To cut a long story short, I've had a very stressy year and my skin has responded by going into never-ending cycles of hormonal type break-outs around the chin area and to make me look especially beautiful, I've had endless breakouts of cold sores too. Yay me!

Tried everything and was just about giving up. I'm 33 and my skin was worse than I'd ever experienced, even as a teenager.

So finally, I decided to buy some supplements - I won't say which because I don't want to give anybody the impression that I'm advertising and there are loads of brand available. Three weeks ago I bought zinc/magnesium/B6 (combined pill - really just bought them for the zinc but thought the other things might help) for the spots and a massive pack of L-Lysine for my cold sores. I didn't quite believe they would work but thought it worth a go.

FUCK ME! My skin is completely, completely clear! I've been taking these pills for three weeks and one week in, I had zero blemishes. Zero! ONE WEEK IN! I decided my period would be the big test but that's come and gone and I've gained not one spot. Not one!

So obviously, I'm all evangelical now and wanted to spread the word far and wide. Stop wasting your money on lotions and potions (although admittedly, I still do use a hyaluronic moisturiser daily and an acid peel weekly - but I've been doing that for four months with no significant difference), try these supplements!

I genuinely want strangers to feel my skin. It is oh so smooth Grin So this is the next best thing. By the way, I know not everything works for everybody so this just might be my 'cure' but it's worth a go if, like me, you've tried everything and you are getting no results.

Good for you OP SmileFlowers

Grimbles · 12/09/2019 11:36

MLM Hmm

WhatsMyPassword · 12/09/2019 11:37

Cold sores are a virus and virues take hold when peopel are run down, so any overall betterment of diet, well being etc will hold viruses at bay.

Shall I tell you what nuked my sons spots? a week in Spain, in the sun and salt water!

Spinnaret · 12/09/2019 11:41

I use L-lysine. I was sceptical, but it has massively reduced the frequency of outbreaks. For anyone who gets regular HSV1 or 2, it is definitely worth a try. Can't answer for the rest of the OP though.

VapeVamp12 · 12/09/2019 11:41

@grimbles

The OP said she isn't mentioning brands and there are loads available. Not everything is a bloody MLM.

Boots and Superdrug sell the things OP mentioned.

LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 12/09/2019 11:43

Grimbles Report me if you like, I've been around for yonks and have a well recorded professional, non-MLM job, thanks very much. And as I said, I mention no brand names and there are hundreds, if not thousands of them.

Just trying to spread my good mood and new knowledge!

Spinnaret I was sceptical too and have been amazed. I heard about it on here and thought it'd be worth a go. Didn't think it would completely clear them up. Amazing!

WhatsMyPassword My skin always improves if I go away but haven't been able to this year (buying a new house etc. Hence stress) but that in itself is a miracle cure. I think the sun and reduced stress levels really make a dramatic difference.

Grimbles · 12/09/2019 12:12

My bad OP, sorry.

LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 12/09/2019 12:27

Thanks Grimbles, wasn't expecting an apology so that's cheered me up even more Smile

MaddieElla · 12/09/2019 12:39

I am going to give this a try, thanks OP.

I have the most humungous cold sore that's made my whole lip swell up, they really make me miserable. I felt a swollen gland and then hey presto, Mount Vesuvius.

poppym12 · 12/09/2019 12:43

I can tell if I need to take zinc supplements as when my levels are low I get coldsores. I had an epiphany whilst taking prescribed zinc a few years ago that for me there must be a link.

LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 12/09/2019 12:45

No problem MaddieElla - if you just have cold sores, you'd only need the L-Lysine. I thought it was all a bit hippy-dippy but the science behind it actually makes sense.

It's a protein that blocks the protein that enables cold sores to grow, or something like that. Wonder stuff in any case.

OP posts:
LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 12/09/2019 12:46

I've just seen poppys response so maybe not. Maybe zinc helps the coldsores too.

OP posts:
LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 12/09/2019 12:46

Or helps kill them, I should say!

MaddieElla · 12/09/2019 12:49

Oh no fear, I'm nearly 40 and still have the same amount of spots I did when I was 16. Sad Grin

DanielRicciardosSmile · 12/09/2019 12:50

DS has acne and one of the treatments the GP mentioned was a zinc cream (we've not gone with it as she thinks it's possible it will aggravate his eczema) but I might look into a zinc supplement for him.

LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 12/09/2019 12:51

It's horrible isn't it? I went to the theatre with a bunch of mates that I hadn't seen for ages about a month ago and my face was such a mess. I felt like not going. Can have such an impact.

OP posts:
gk6277 · 12/09/2019 12:52

Sudocrem - (the tubs not the tubes), is fab for spots - I put that down to the zinc content too

DowntonCrabby · 12/09/2019 12:54

I’m interested in the actual brand OP if you feel happy to share? Flowers

Winsomelosesome · 12/09/2019 12:55

I concur Op. Used to get painful large boils every month, for years. Started magniusium, zinc and bvitamins along with starflower and evening primrose oil about 18 months ago and never get breakouts any more. Also get cold sores, don't take the l lysine tablets as the size put me off but use a lysine lip balm and only get maybe one a year now.

Inebriati · 12/09/2019 12:58

This is interesting, I started taking magnesium for depression over a year ago and just realised I haven't had a serious skin break out since then.
I'm going to try the other supplements and see what happens.

LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 12/09/2019 12:59

Happy to share Downton if nobody objects?

Winsome - yeah I agree. The lysine tablets are huge. I nearly choked on the first one. I now cut them up into four pieces! Four!

OP posts:
JurassicShay · 12/09/2019 13:03

Yes brand names please. I have cystic acne & psoriasis on my face so finding the right lotions & potions is impossible.
Sudocreme gave the most improvement out of all Iv tried tho!

VanGoghsDog · 12/09/2019 13:10

I worked out that some of my 'spots' were cold sores and treated with Zovirax and now use sunblock every day and don't get them.

Still get the odd spot but it's a normal spot.

LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 12/09/2019 13:10

Ok! So they were literally the cheapest/ best quality that I came across on ebay so i don't know if they are the best out there but I'm sticking with them because like I say, one week and they sorted me out Shock

I take one of these per day: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lindens-Zinc-Magnesium-Vitamin-B6-90-Tablets-Skin-Bones-Energy-Recovery/323026326563?epid=14031183654&hash=item4b35de9423:g:0ngAAOSwCMVbsH2F

and one of these per day: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/L-Lysine-1000mg-180-Tablets-Cold-Sores-Amino-Acid-Supplement-100-Guarantee/292071298165?epid=13027208018&hash=item4400ce5475:g:jKsAAOSwNYVdB7eM

as pp said, the latter tablets are huge so you'll likely need to break them into at least two pieces to swallow them. Worth it though.
