To tell you how I cleared my problem spots/ cold sores?!

Hi all!

Grim subject I know but I just wanted to spread the news about something miraculous that worked for me!

To cut a long story short, I've had a very stressy year and my skin has responded by going into never-ending cycles of hormonal type break-outs around the chin area and to make me look especially beautiful, I've had endless breakouts of cold sores too. Yay me!

Tried everything and was just about giving up. I'm 33 and my skin was worse than I'd ever experienced, even as a teenager.

So finally, I decided to buy some supplements - I won't say which because I don't want to give anybody the impression that I'm advertising and there are loads of brand available. Three weeks ago I bought zinc/magnesium/B6 (combined pill - really just bought them for the zinc but thought the other things might help) for the spots and a massive pack of L-Lysine for my cold sores. I didn't quite believe they would work but thought it worth a go.

FUCK ME! My skin is completely, completely clear! I've been taking these pills for three weeks and one week in, I had zero blemishes. Zero! ONE WEEK IN! I decided my period would be the big test but that's come and gone and I've gained not one spot. Not one!

So obviously, I'm all evangelical now and wanted to spread the word far and wide. Stop wasting your money on lotions and potions (although admittedly, I still do use a hyaluronic moisturiser daily and an acid peel weekly - but I've been doing that for four months with no significant difference), try these supplements!

I genuinely want strangers to feel my skin. It is oh so smooth Grin So this is the next best thing. By the way, I know not everything works for everybody so this just might be my 'cure' but it's worth a go if, like me, you've tried everything and you are getting no results.

Or people could eat better, and get those nutrients via food.

Thats no longer the case. Our farmland used to have the benefit of hundreds of years of organic farming methods, but now the soil is noticeably depleted after decades of inorganic fertilisers and no manure or green manure.

Ifyousayso2019 · 12/09/2019 19:35

Hi op. Have you found if it helps with the appearance of scars??

Thank you for sharing!!

PickAChew · 12/09/2019 19:42

I've had great results on my cold sores with L-Lysine. I take the supplements when I remember but generally zap them instantly with an ointment or balm. I normally end up with them finally erupting right inside my nose where I can't reach with the balm, after several days of whack-a-mole, mind!

EnglishRose13 · 12/09/2019 20:19

I could have written the part about the cold sores and spots myself! Since December I've had at least one massive spot on my chin. The scaring is dreadful. I'm going to try the supplements you've mentioned.

I started taking L-lysine a few months ago, after getting three within weeks of each other and no cold sores since, so I recommend them too.

organic homemade soap and home made lotion bars helped mine

Sapphire387 · 12/09/2019 20:30

@Mythreeknights

For rosacea - do you get flushing?

MSM powder (dissolved in water) helps me immensely with this. 3g a day dissolved in 500ml of water; I drink it every morning. I get mine from Holland and Barrett but I’m not advertising, you can get all sorts of different brands.

Wellandtrulyoutnumbered · 12/09/2019 20:40

We use A Vogel Bio Propolis Ointment but going to get some lysine balm

Gra18 · 12/09/2019 20:51

This is so helpful I’m going to try some out. My DH was recommended vicks for toenail fungal also (but he’s currently also doing laser).
My skin has been awful since having children, and especially over the last year as I was also stressed but I’ve been taken accumax and I cannot praise them enough. The brand is advanced nutrition. I depend on supplements if I’m run down. The other vitamin I love is liquid vitamin C it really helps if you feel a cold etc coming on.

PlinkPlink · 12/09/2019 20:55

I use a daily salicylic acid cleanser, tea tree oil toner (homemade) and just a small amount of rosehip oil or coconut oil to moisturise after.

I was looking into dermarolling as my skin is still quite bad. I get 4 or 5 spots every month and it drives me crazy. Nowhere near as bad as my teenage days but still 🙈

I might give this a try!!

jeffreeshart · 12/09/2019 21:05

I've had horrific cystic hormonal acne and at the age of 30 I've never felt so embarrassed about my skin. I didn't have anything this bad as a teenager. I've been taking some a good multivitamin with a decent amount of zinc in and within one week my skin has also drastically improved!

I'm still working on the scarring and keeping up the good skin care but it has made a huge difference for me.

Emmapeeler · 12/09/2019 21:06

Thanks OP. An enormous cold sore appeared on my lip today so this thread is timely!

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 12/09/2019 21:10

Thanks so much OP! I suffer so much with cold sore. Dread coming into autumn. Thank u!!!! Getting them now.

LiterallyCantBelieveIt · 13/09/2019 13:53

No problem! Glad to be of service Wink

I just wish I'd received this info about a year ago. My year would've been substantially improved by having clear skin. I know that sounds superficial but I'm guessing most people on this thread can identify!

Inebriati · 13/09/2019 16:11

I've found vitamin E cream and cocoa butter has helped with scarring and has even reduced some keloid scars. It might have helped that I always use sunblock.

Bumbags · 14/09/2019 23:10

I’ve bought some zinc magnesium for my skin.

I’ve also bought some Siberian Ginseng for my brain fog.

I’m going to be a new woman!
