Been reading about the new iPhone and seen it's triggered trypophobia in some due to the cameras on the back. And in light of IT Chapter 2 coming out a few days ago I rediscovered my fear of clowns.

What bizarre things terrify you?

My biggest fear is a fire in my home and being burnt to death...Loads of holes as said by OP, Wasps but more so their sting as I have never been stung and I'm 33 and a lot of ppl say I'm mean when I say this but small people make me nervous..I don't mean any offense to them..Its an irrational fear due to a man who lived local when I was a child and he was so mean he was scary...I used to have nightmares about him

Egghead68 · 11/09/2019 21:39

Falling down the stairs.

SimplyBeBlythe · 11/09/2019 21:40

Bananas. I actually shudder if I have to touch one. And spiders. I work in a Reception class and they have bananas for snack time. My biggest fear is that a big ol spider will crawl out of the pack of bananas.

jackson131 · 11/09/2019 21:45

I'm terrified of people with white faces like Michael out of Halloween. Can't even watch it lol

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 11/09/2019 21:46

Those wasp/hornet things that have long dangly legs behind them. They petrify me. Also large hornets of any kind.

bigcheesematrix · 11/09/2019 21:47

Sharks. I freaked myself out on holiday when googling about whether there are sharks in Gran Canaria to find out that there are great whites out there but apparently they don't come to the shallow water. Shock
An intruder coming into the home. I lay in bed with a racing heart imagining what I'd do in different scenarios and how I'd manage to rescue the kids. This happens more when dh is away for the night.
Flying. Still do fly as a family so I have to hide my feelings so as not to pass it on to the kids.

Coco89 · 11/09/2019 21:53

Escalators!! I hate them! My 9 year old find is amusing!

SlothRunner · 11/09/2019 21:58

Balconies. I worry it will just shear off the side of a building with me still on ir. also dont like foot bridges that you can see through the slats.

DrVonPatak · 11/09/2019 22:00

@Hannah021

Omg, I thought I was the only one! I literally CAN'T walk down the stairs without handrails or holding hands with someone I really trust. Like, I get completely frozen!

CookPassBabtridge · 11/09/2019 22:01

Yes to seeing a face in the mirror behind me!

I live a few miles away from a small airport, for light aircraft etc.. I always think one is gonna crash into our house, same with helicopters that fly over.

Don't like going downstairs in the dark as think I'll see a ghost

rubydoobydoo · 11/09/2019 22:02

I posted about mine the other day - buttons!
Also to a slightly lesser degree - spider's webs. I have no problem with spiders themselves, I'm just terrified of their homes!

Mumofboth · 11/09/2019 22:07

Whenever I’m at a train station (once every 6 months for a couple of weeks at a time) I get “a feeling” that someone will attack me. I’ve never been attacked by a stranger or on a train so I have no idea why I get like that but it’s awful.

Mummy2one2016 · 11/09/2019 22:11

I have similar fears to others drowning and a fire in my home

My really weird fear... sprinklers, like the ones in shops and buildings. No idea why but I have literally avoided using public toilets where you go in and there is a sprinkler. Makes me really queasy and panicky. I've never known one to accidentally go of so no idea why I feel like this.

Hepburn17 · 11/09/2019 22:18

Trains. Hate travelling on them, not due to sickness or anything I have apparently been scared of them since I was a baby. Still get jittery and nervous when I have to use them, even the subway. No rhyme nor reason for itConfused

ChickenTikkaTellMeWhatsWrong · 11/09/2019 22:37

Ship wrecks, thinking about how deep the ocean is, and being in water that's dark you can't see your legs.

Gives me chills 😱

CoodleMoodle · 11/09/2019 22:37

I'm not scared of slugs but they utterly repulse me. DH and I used to live in a grotty (student) flat and when it rained they came in under the skirting boards, and liked to slither into the bathroom and kitchen. One night I went to the loo and there was one crawling up the wall next to the string for the light. I nearly touched it in the dark!

I had to get DH to get rid and he laughed at me... until he saw the size of it. Revolting, horrible things.

ChickenTikkaTellMeWhatsWrong · 11/09/2019 22:38

Ohhh and the thought of falling into an escalator 😱😱😱😱

CoodleMoodle · 11/09/2019 22:39

Oh, and one morning I woke up early, opened my eyes and there was a slug on the ceiling above my head. I have never in my life got out of bed so fast. It still makes me shudder thinking about it now!

Bobthefishermanswife · 11/09/2019 22:40

The bottom step of the stairs in the dark. I'm always scared I've misjudged it and will fall.

toadabode · 11/09/2019 22:41

The underside of boats / ships. Especially if they're rusty. I wouldn't say it's a phobia but I find it very unsettling and eerie

SouthWestmom · 11/09/2019 22:46

piers: literally can't walk on them
Bones sticking through flesh
Stitiches
Feel so scared thinking of them it makes me nauseas

LucieFurr · 11/09/2019 22:50

Frogs 🐸

WomaninaPickle · 11/09/2019 22:55

Escalators! I really hate them, but if my anxiety is low I can go up very short ones. I get a sensation halfway up that I am going to fall off backwards into a gaping abyss.
I don't entertain coming down them at all.

DW has learned not to say, just try, it will be fine, you won't fall ad infinitum, as she did when we first met, as my response was rather emphatic. 😊

My daughter hates lifts so we spend a lot of time finding one another if we go shopping together.

HearMeSnore · 11/09/2019 23:02

Caves.

DM took me to some show caves when I was about 5, and we got separated. I was perfectly safe, we were on a supervised tour but a large group of people pushed their way forward to hear the tour guide and I couldn't keep hold of her hand. We got shoved apart and I ended up squashed against a railing in this spooky, dark place full of weird shapes that totally freaked me out.

Hate going underground to this day. Even railway tunnels make me nervous.

FiveFarthings · 11/09/2019 23:05

Falling. Not heights- I can do heights as long as there is a railing etc. But I have a really bad fear of falling off things. Where I live there are beautiful coastal cliff paths but I can’t go on them because I’m terrified I’ll slip and fall off the edge. On one of the cliffs there is a car park right at the edge, you couldn’t actually fall off in the car because there are granite boulders which would stop you but I can’t ever drive into that car park in case the handbrake of the car fails and it rolls down the slope, over the granite and plunges off the cliff! Irrational I know!
