In school my son was shown a video of a man sexually attracted to balloons

Name changed for this as it could be pretty outing.

Apparently it was a YouTube video, and the idea of the class was to teach them about feelings?! WTAF. AIBU to think that there are a gazillion other more appropriate ways to teach 12 year old about feelings than watching a man get into bed with balloons and tell people it arouses him?

Obviously I don't know exactly what they watched but it all seems a bit weird to me. I did clarify that the teacher showed them this and he said yes. It was part of the class.

It just seems a bit odd

Wtf

madcatladyforever · 09/09/2019 20:33

For crying out loud. Normalising fetishism again. I'd have been livid.

Nonstopbuttmachine · 09/09/2019 20:40

Oh, I hate balloons. Maybe it was some form of aversion therapy? Wink

NoTheresa · 09/09/2019 20:41

Yep - wtf?!

Jesaminecollins · 09/09/2019 20:42

I wish I hadn't clicked on this ... lol

BarbariansMum · 09/09/2019 20:42

YABU What could be more normal or natural.....hmmm.

NoTheresa · 09/09/2019 20:42

Just as well it wasn’t bicycles.

Nonstopbuttmachine · 09/09/2019 20:43

Are you sure it wasn't baboons OP?

Propertyofhood · 09/09/2019 20:44

Whaaaaaat?!

I think you need to find out the exact contents of the video.

youarenotkiddingme · 09/09/2019 20:44

That does seem really odd. And not teaching everyday feelings either which seems to avoid the point of the lesson?!

Jesaminecollins · 09/09/2019 20:44

I just found this ...

Queenoftheashes · 09/09/2019 20:47

That’s hilarious

NoTheresa · 09/09/2019 20:49

I have to confess I am tittering, too. Is that bad!?

Karkasaurus · 09/09/2019 20:51

Oh no. Now your son will start fancying balloons.

Hmm
HairyDogsOfThigh · 09/09/2019 20:54

nonstop i'm not sure baboons would be any better, tbh.

SanguinePenguin · 09/09/2019 20:55

Contact the school and ask for the link to see the video yourself you might then be surprised (hopefully in a good way, not bad). Kids are known for convoluting a story without realising it. Hopefully it's not as bad as it sounds 😂

Propertyofhood · 09/09/2019 20:56

Are people honestly saying that it's fine to show kids videos about grown men's weird sex fetishes? Eeeeew!

CorBlimeyGovenor · 09/09/2019 20:57

Gosh, you must have felt really deflated when he told you!

Balloontheory · 09/09/2019 20:58

It did Kind of make me laugh to be fair but bloody hell it seems a bit weird. I'm going to call the school tomorrow and ask. Not that they will have a clue what to do with my enquiry the school is useless

I think you've blown it up out of all proportion!

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 09/09/2019 21:00

I've just watched the video on youtube and it seemed harmless to me.
