Ulcers on lady bits

Maddie2019 · 07/09/2019 20:17

Hi all, sorry if this is TMI but I’m worried sick and can’t find anything relevant online so hoping one of you may of experienced this or has some advice.

I’ve had sore lady bits for a week or so, when I looked I could see ulcers!! I went straight to the out of hours GP and she said it wasn’t STI related, or anything like she had quite seen. She said they were literally the same ulcers you get in your mouth but on your gentials instead.

I need to arrange an appointment on Monday with the hospital, but I know how bad waiting times are and I’m so anxious I needed some thoughts beforehand.

Sorry for how gross this is, I’m hoping someone can help! Blush

@Jojowash the OP has had a diagnosis and it isn't herpes simplex virus. I'm not sure why you are comparing mouth ulcers to hsv, that isn't helpful. I'll assume you're referring to oral hsv1 'cold sores', the same strain of hsv that causes the majority of genital hsv infections, thus differentiating based on location is not appropriate.

@Maddie2019 sorry to sidetrack. I'm pleased you have a diagnosis and wish you a swift recovery.

Actionhasmagic · 12/09/2019 21:17

Oh gosh sorry you’re going through this. It sounds awful. I have been having a super low immune system at the moment and have completely changed my diet. Although I’m not better yet I’m starting to feel a bit less run down

DontFeedTheCatCake · 12/09/2019 21:22

Sorry Maddie should have said that is really good news you have a diagnosis, and that your treatment is underway. It sounds so painful, hope you feel better soon Flowers

MunchyMunchkin · 12/09/2019 21:29

Glad you got a diagnosis OP.

We had a small run of these where I work but haven’t seen a case for a while.

SinkGirl · 12/09/2019 22:02

Munchy were those also cellulitis? I still wonder what mine was!

MunchyMunchkin · 13/09/2019 07:14

Yes a type of cellulitis @SinkGirl sometimes looks like scalded skin.

SinkGirl · 13/09/2019 08:31

How interesting. I don’t think that’s what mine was, I’ve had cellulitis on my knee after my c section and it was very different. Never heard of cellulitis in that area. Must be really painful - hope you’re feeling better OP.

Jojowash · 13/09/2019 09:51

@Skyecat

I wasn't giving a diagnosis but thank you for your useless input.

mankyfourthtoe · 13/09/2019 12:58

Sorry to hijack but there's lots of knowledgable people on here.

I've been sent to the sex health clinic this afternoon as my practice nurse thinks I've got herpes. Apparently all the pain down there is blisters and she can't Swab for it.

Married 25 years and I'm feeling quite sick.

MunchyMunchkin · 13/09/2019 13:33

@mankyfourthtoe lots of possible causes for genital ulcers and herpes is an important one to rule out as it’s most common. Easily ruled out with a swab.
Sexual health clinic is the best place to get genital skin problems reviewed as we look at genital skin all day long.

Herpes can remain dormant for a long time and is passed on by skin to skin contact.
Check out herpes.org.uk for more info. Please try not to worry and get your specialist review.

Skyecat · 13/09/2019 17:50

@Jojowash I provided some factual information. Your post wasn't factual or useful as the OP had already told us her diagnosis.

Rachelover60 · 13/09/2019 20:18

I'm glad you've been given a diagnosis and treatment, Maddie. Hope it clears up quickly.

MeMeMeYou · 13/09/2019 20:22

I had this. Investigated for behcets once infections etc ruled out. Remained a painful mystery until I was referred on to a dermatologist and I had really bad dermatitis in fact.

MeMeMeYou · 13/09/2019 20:23

Just realised you found out what it was and have Antibs. Get well soon

2girlsandagap · 17/09/2019 20:02

@mankyfourthtoe do you have any other symptoms that seem unrelated? I had the unfortunate experience of being told it was herpes by one doctor and then sodding syphillis by another until I insisted on swabs and bloods being done. I was negative for both- never even had an oral coldsore in my life. The symptoms I thought were unrelated turned out to all be markers for my immune disease but because I didn’t connect them mentally I didn’t mention them when I should have.

mankyfourthtoe · 26/09/2019 12:19

Looking like Behçet’s now as three swans have come back negative.

2girlsandagap · 26/09/2019 12:44

Ask for a referral to professor moots in one of the Behcets centres of excellence. He’s amazing! The centres are in Liverpool and Birmingham. They have all the specialists in one clinic which really cuts down on the time taken to get treatment. If you need any advice on Behcets let me know as I got diagnosed years ago so have ran the gauntlet with most of the issues you’ll come across x

mankyfourthtoe · 26/09/2019 13:12

I'm finding it really hard to research, how do I get diagnosed, is there a test, do I ask for a referral straight there from my gp or see someone first? Sorry...

KUGA · 26/09/2019 13:22

Agree with tallglassof.

2girlsandagap · 26/09/2019 17:54

I’ve pm’d you @mankyfourthtoe
