I can't wait for the big butt fashion to be over.

I'm more 'straight up and down', and slightly apple when carrying a few extra pounds, so the current trend for bottom-heavy hourglass figures is totally unobtainable for me.

I'll be glad when it's over, selfishly!

I'll also be glad to see the back of the massive lips with tiny pointy chins.

Aibu to expect the trend to die soon?

I'm talking more about the trend in lip fillers and butt lifts etc. Not the naturals!

LoseLooseLucy · 06/09/2019 11:55

As a tiny boobed big bummed woman... YABU, I'm enjoying the moment for once 😄

PinkLacy · 06/09/2019 11:56

YABU

Hmm
TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 06/09/2019 11:57

Nooo, I’m loving the high waists! Just wish they would start catering for actual hourglasses with balanced boobs, instead of assuming that a dress needs to have a bust measurement 4 inches smaller than the hips.

fallacy · 06/09/2019 11:58

Lose so you like the fake look though? The butt implants etc?

I'm thinking of KK and Holly from Geordie Shore

OP posts:
fallacy · 06/09/2019 11:58

I love high waists too, doesn't have anything to do with the massive fake hip trend though

Sammi38 · 06/09/2019 11:59

It’s quite sad actually that young women are having all this waist snatching and BBL work done, why has this become so popular recently? The Kardashians I suppose.

BBL carries the highest mortality rate of cosmetic surgeries. There was a woman in the news a few weeks ago who had gone abroad for a BBL and she subsequently died.

fallacy · 06/09/2019 12:00

And to my eyes it looks crazy from certain angles. You can see the implants a mile off. Like that woman in Love Island this year. Anna I think

thecatsthecats · 06/09/2019 12:00

I agree with you about there not being trends in body types.

I have a balanced figure (hips and shoulders equal width, small waist).

It honestly makes me feel a little sick when I hear someone say any specific shape is more or less desirable than another. (honestly - it's a genuine mild visceral reaction). I hate to hear women complaining about having a big bum, or skinny legs, or broad shoulders or big feet or... anything).

Wanting to be a healthy, fit size and weight should not in any way be correlated with wanting to change or distort the natural shape your skeleton, muscles and fat disposition gives you.

I don't believe everyone is beautiful, but I do believe that beauty isn't the most important thing, or even close. Embracing and celebrating natural differences in human form should be the norm. Embracing and celebrating human beings? Even better.

LoseLooseLucy · 06/09/2019 12:01

No, I agree the fake look is awful. I don't understand how they can bear an injection in their lips 😬😬

hellsbellsmelons · 06/09/2019 12:02

I'm loving it too.
Have lovely big butt and all natural.
But I know what you mean about lip fillers.
Bloody awful pouty look.

RedRedBluee · 06/09/2019 12:03

Yabu
Everyone should appreciate their natural shape whatever it is.
However, I’m very happy about this “trend” because I have a very large bottom with a small waist and now I can get clothes which actually fit me!

fallacy · 06/09/2019 12:04

I actually feel the pressure to balance out my slightly smaller top lip. Something I've never ever even noticed before. I used to have confidence in my figure but now I feel like I have a small bum and a think waist. Ridiculous. All I see everywhere is bum implants. Perhaps I need to bin Instagram

GinDaddy · 06/09/2019 12:04

YANBU. It's patently ludicrous, as the whole thing is based around a largely unattainable shape, inspired by an infamous woman of partly Armenian descent who cynically decided to artificially accentuate her curves. With the main purpose of visually appealing more to the generalised aesthetic and sexual tastes of a particular group of US citizens.

I feel for some African American women who have been walking around with this natural shape for their lifetime, healthy and with their proportions as nature intended, yet are too "dark" to be celebrated by some and the mainstream, while their whiter compatriots have decided this shape is now celebrated .

The mad thing is that KK now looks like a caricature of the rapper video girl we used to see in the early 00s in Jay-Z promos and the like. That has become her aesthetic, but because of her platform this impossible waist-to-ass ratio is now on display for all to aspire to.

powershowerforanhour · 06/09/2019 12:04

So odd to get your body operated on for a transient fashion. Surely chicken fillets for the arse of your pants exist?

fallacy · 06/09/2019 12:06

Do you think they'll get it all removed a la Victoria Beckham when the fashion changes to waif? Because I'm sure the fashion will change again.

OP posts:
fallacy · 06/09/2019 12:06

I agree that KK looks like a caricature

True. Seems like body appropriation.

NoBaggyPants · 06/09/2019 12:07

Yes, you need to bin Instagram, or consider what you're looking at.

I can't say I've seen a bum implant anywhere but news articles where the surgery has gone wrong.

fallacy · 06/09/2019 12:09

You've seen KK, Love Island and other programmes though? I do indeed what a whole load of shite tv though.

OP posts:
Goodgirlsgotohell · 06/09/2019 12:10

Does MN ever get sick of complaining about big lips?

If you don’t like it then don’t get them done. What other people decide to do does not impact you.

But it’s hardly a new thing. So get over it already.

This is said as someone who has no filler in my lips!

fallacy · 06/09/2019 12:11

I don't hate them. I hate the pressure that I now feel to have nicer lips.

OP posts:
NoBaggyPants · 06/09/2019 12:11

I'm aware of who the Kardashians are but no, I've never seen their TV show, or Love Island. It's trash.

shearwater · 06/09/2019 12:11

The hour glass or pear shape, and people having their weight in a healthy proportion to their height will always be more desirable in reality, whatever fashion dictates, as it represents health and fertility.

fallacy · 06/09/2019 12:12

Tis indeed trash. Still, it's just conversation fodder
