WIBU to send this email - have I become a CF?

Oh god. I do everything I can in life to avoid people thinking badly of me, and I’ve just sent an email that I massively regret already. Help.

Recently went to a very swanky place for a special occasion. Saw they were advertised something that was perfect for my sister’s big birthday in November so I booked it, despite the fact it was £260 per person. Also planned to book access to their spa plus treatments for afterwards, which will be a few hundred extra pounds but she’s my sister and she’s worth it.

Just went on their website and they’re offering 2-4-1 tickets for this event (and others). That means if I’d booked now rather than 3 weeks ago, I’d have saved £260.

The booking has a 14 day cancellation period - you get a full refund if you cancel more than 14 days in advance. So I’ve emailed them asking if I can cancel the spaces I’ve booked and rebook with the code.

They are going to think I’m a terrible CF aren’t they? I’m now really embarrassed but that money would pay for the spa stuff afterwards (almost).

So am I a cheeky fucker? WIBU to send the email?

So as to avoid drip feeds, I used to run a business doing similar events and had a few people do this (cancel within the cancellation period to rebook with an offer). I could have just emailed them asking for a refund and then booked cheaper online afterwards I suppose. Actually that’s what I should have done. Shit.

^this sounds quite exhausting! I tend towards this too but have tried to accept that not everyone is going to to think well of you all the time, and to try not to worry so much!

But back on the topic, YANBU at all and hope you have a lovely time!
still bitter about buying ££ tinc advent calendar early in case it sold out only to see it heavily discounted a week or two later which was still before advent

It is exhausting! I think I had a bit of an epiphany last night, and fought against my usual instincts 😂

And I would not usually spend anything like this amount on anyone’s birthday - we are far from loaded (they are much better off). But she has done so much for us, helped us buy our house, and now we’ve paid her back I want to do something nice for her :)

I sell fairly expensive items, if someone buys something at full price but it then goes on special offer within 28 days, legally they can ask for the difference back. A lot of people do it so I wouldn't worry, enjoy!!!

Not cheeky at all! It’s exactly what I’d do and most places would honour it.

The admin people in the office are ordinary people like you and I. They probably earn a very average wage and when they see your request, if phased politely, will think, "Yes, good for EmptyO, she's having a special treat with us, she's not got money to burn."
