To ask about contraception in a new relationship

Was thinking today- what on earth would I do if I entered a new relationship. Not advised to take the combined pill as b.pressure usually quite high, bleed constantly on any minipill I’ve tried.
The thought of a coil makes me feel nauseous and I’ve read too many bad stories of people who have asked to have them removed and it’s been refused when they ask.
So what would I do in a new relationship. I couldn’t exactly ask a new guy to get a vasectomy but the topic of contraception would need to be brought up fairly early on I guess so that he knows where he is.
Ideas please!?...
Oh and I wouldn’t feel ok with condoms alone in case they rip or something like that.

I think the diaphragm would be too tricky for me

Possibly but you'll never know if you don't try Smile

(Is C-Film still a thing?!)

I've used condoms for 3.5 years with husband, and before that for all my uni experiences - never had one break, ever.

I've known more people to get pregnant on the pill. At least with condoms you KNOW when they've failed, with the pill you have no idea till you're pregnant.

Avoid Mirena if you've never had kids. The frame is huge and I had awful cramps from it. Full-term pregnancy apparently stretches the uterus enough to accommodate the frame.

I ended up travelling abroad for a Fibroplant but I was at my wit's end with endometriosis by then.

Date women instead?

I can't use any hormonal contraceptives either. I have used condoms for years with no accidents (except when we didn't use one Blush)

You are discounting alternatives so it seems you've already made up your mind about what your preference is - what is it? Maybe people who have used it can help.

The best person to talk to is a doctor, and if you do get constant bleeding with an implant a pill can be prescribed alongside.

I used to use a diaphragm. It's not as tricky as you think. It was 100% effective in my case.

Tiredtessy · 06/09/2019 21:50

I bled all the time on the pill but barely at all on the coil, it was painful when put In and I get queasy about things but dont even think about it now, defo recommend it

I can't imagine someone who is unhappy to rely on condoms would be happy to rely on the diaphragm instead.

I find the [[https://caya.co.uk/ Caya ergonomic diaphram]] very good. I dont tolorate hormonal contraceptives and the coil was unccomfortable, but this works a treat. In a new relationship it can be doubled up with a condom.

You reject the idea of condoms but what about protection from STIs?
