Seriously the daily amount of goady teaching baiting posts are ridiculous.

I really want to know why are teachers such an easy target on here? AIBU to suggest that there is disproportionate attacks teachers like there is no other profession on MN?

It's pretty shit reading about how crap teachers are, their amazingly long holidays (a whole issue on its own btw) and how easy they have it. Every thread. Never seen other proffesions get the same grilling . DH is a head teacher, a job he loves but completely takes over our lives with the hours he works.

shithappens123 · 05/09/2019 17:24

But according to some on here we should take it.

you're commenting but you;re sure as hell not listening or understanding. Which pretty much renders your continued comments meaningless.

People can pretend to be anything they want to be on here.

I always remember being shocked by my brother (a music teacher) going to houses of those who had borrowed musical instruments and the casual way they acted when a mangled item was returned with no apologies!

My um would have been cringing if we had abused an item like that and would probably pushed us towards the door to 'explain'.

Deathray that’s awful. It’s entitled behaviour I suppose.

I think it's because they are always moaning and wanting sympathy for their workload. Everyobody is busy and we dont all get to work term time only. The fact that they constantly complain is madness. My mother in law is a teacher but she never complains. She loves her job and always says how amazing it was to always be around during the school holidays with her kids and now with her grandchildren.

Totally agree.

I wonder how many other teachers on here are wishing that the OP would just shut up and stop being such a poor example of their profession.

Me, for one. We face enough challenges without our own being confrontational when there's no need for it. We've all had times when we've felt unappreciated. It's part of the job, unfortunately.

My family will tell you how rubbish it's been having a parent for a teacher. The evenings, weekends, and holiday days taken up with worrying about whether everything is prepared well enough, marked well enough (I'm secondary, but I used to be primary - there's no way I'd go back to primary now, it's much too full-on for anyone who wants a good work/life balance).

I do know not all teachers are the same, but I have to say - in my experience with colleagues - the majority care about your children to the point of putting in as much extra time as it takes to solve your issues, deal with problems and give you some peace of mine.

It doesn't help when teachers start being aggressive on a forum - all people will remember is that one impression they've made, and that's not the way I want to be remembered as a teacher!

RolyWatts · 05/09/2019 17:55

I must read different threads because it's my experience that no criticism of teachers is tolerated.

"Guess they need something to do now Jeremy Kyle is no longer on tv."
Can't believe you said that OP. Are you really a teacher? I hope not. If you really are I guess you feel superior to all the plebs and their children in your class.

I think shithappens has given a perfect example of why the attitude of some teachers gets, justifiably, criticised...
