To be fuming with ExH and ExMil?

NC because ExMil is on here and I don't want her reading my othet posts if she sees this.
Dd (4) was over for contact with ExH today, ExMil was over for the weekend as well. He took her out to the zoo, where we are it was very sunny today. I packed her suncream because I knew he wouldn't have any. When I dropped her off yesterday I said 'make sure she wears suncream'. He said okay. Lo and behold I have a very sunburnt Dd who says that no daddy didn't put suncream on her. She actually has blisters on her arms, is bright red and in agony (she is very very pale and gets sunburnt so easily)
Aibu to be fuming and phone ExH and have it out with him? Also I think his mother should really have said something but he's the parent

I have this discussion with my ex every sodding weekend. He takes DDs swimming in the sea for hours but absolutely refuses to put sunscreen on them. They've come home burnt as well. I feel for you OP.

LadyPoldark · 01/09/2019 20:18

Well it was' hydrocorsityl' that was prescribed by my very well respected GP and silcocks base applied on top in a thick layer . My DD sunburn healed quickly and without peeling at all.

I'd take her to A&E, so what if they report you to social services?! It's not your fault you can explain she wasn't in your care and they can go and speak to your ex. Hopefully that should scare him into making sure it doesn't happen again.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 01/09/2019 20:42

Why on earth has he not used it and why does your husband refuse? Are they quite quite mad? Makes me furious. My DH is a bit slack and does t top suncream up but he knows it’s needed. Blisters needs and e in my view. Please take her and explain your ex is to blame

Knoxinbox · 01/09/2019 20:49

In the future can you (and the poster above) send a spf50 rash vest for them to wear? May be they would put them in that even if they won’t bother with suncream???

AnnonniMoose · 01/09/2019 22:42

I tell my DDs to make sure they put sunscreen on before they go out in the sun/swimming for the day, but they come home and say daddy told them they don't need it and he won't let them. Fucking arsehole - I would love to shove the sunscreen where the sun don't shine.

BertrandRussell · 01/09/2019 22:49

I forgot to sunscreen my niece and she got badly burned nearly 20 years ago. I still feel the guilt. And I don’t think my sil has ever forgiven me

Nat6999 · 01/09/2019 22:56

If you aren't going to A & E, put Aloe gel & clingfilm on overnight & give her regular doses of scalpel & Nurofen for children to reduce the inflammation.

AnnonniMoose · 02/09/2019 03:51

@Nat6999 - scalpel? No need for such drastic measures! Grin

SteeperThanHell · 02/09/2019 07:10

@Genderfree - where did I say you shouldn’t put prescribed hydrocortisone or even a stronger steroid on eczema? Can you show me please?

What I said was not to put it on sunburn and to get proper help. Here is the NICE CKS (this is what we use as health professionals) for sun burn and the NHS advice for sunburn for the general public- where does it say to use hydrocortisone?

cks.nice.org.uk/burns-and-scalds#!scenario:1

www.nhs.uk/conditions/sunburn/

If a clinician decides that hydrocortisone is appropriate then they will prescribe it.

As an aside it isn’t licensed for over the counter sale for sunburn and in can’t be sold for use in children under 10.

SteeperThanHell · 02/09/2019 07:13

@LadyPoldark - the difference is it was recommended by a clinician following assessment and not by someone on the internet who hasn’t seen the child.

HalyardHitch · 02/09/2019 07:15

How is your dd this morning, op? I'd be fuming!
