Would you book into a hotel for 2 hours just to DTD?

A local ish hotel about 5 miles from where you live as the man is married though separated and living at his parents' and your ex is still living with you?

I didn't know you could actually do this it apparently the Travelodge or premier inn don't bat an eye if you check in at 8pm then out again at 10pm.

I think it's pretty unseemly but maybe I'm just a prude!

In a lot of those paces if you pre-pay you dont need to formally check out. Just leave your key card. No one cares.

Sagradafamiliar · 01/09/2019 13:12

You're an adult, you can do what you want. Personally I'd find it a bit seedy (cheats) or childish (no place of our own to go to), but some people get off on feeling like they're sneaking about so why not.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 01/09/2019 13:17

God - I hate how everything revolves around sex these days - who on earth could even be bothered to go to a hotel for 2 hours just to have sex? Ridiculous.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 01/09/2019 13:21

Me. I would definitely do this. I'm 6 weeks pp with number 3 and desperate for sex.

Between DH job and the offspring windows of opportunity are very short.

I'm now considering this after asking someone to watch the kids for a few hours while DH and I run out on an 'errand'

sofato5miles · 01/09/2019 13:22

@MilkTrayLimeBarrel it's not just nowadays you have only become aware of it.

Buster72 · 01/09/2019 13:26

Definite cheats
Or
As a result of the housing crisis people are living longer at "home". Booking into a hotel for an evening allows young couples to get some space.
I know at least on 20something couple who do this.

BlackCatSleeping · 01/09/2019 13:29

It’s like Japanese love hotels.

I don’t see an issue with it. Better than doing it in a car or public toilets or somewhere like that.

GinDaddy · 01/09/2019 13:30

@MilkTrayLimeBarrel

Do you have DC? If so, presumably they weren’t conceived immaculately?

Nanny0gg · 01/09/2019 13:33

This has been a 'thing' in America for years hasn't it? Going by films and TV shows, anyway.

And any hotel. Not just budget ones.

MardAsSnails · 01/09/2019 13:37

Lonely Planet guide to Seoul actually listings for by the hour ‘Love motels’. Just saying.

Headstand · 01/09/2019 13:39

If you're both free agents, why not? No real difference to booking a hotel for a dirty weekend or just the night, just more time pressured. There is a Premier Inn near his parents so we used to consider that as an option when he lived at home during uni holidays rather than deal with the very thin walls of his parents place... "Just popping out for some fresh air..."

purpleleotard · 01/09/2019 13:40

I have heard that a normal hotel is doing well to have a room occupancy rate about 65%.
And that the hotels at motorway services manage to reach 120% as they are convenient for brief liaisons

Shockers · 01/09/2019 13:42

@Woodlandwitch- I always found the front passenger seat more comfortable- pushed back as far as possible, and reclined.

hunsontherun · 01/09/2019 13:43

Do they charge for a full day? How would the hotel make munney if they r changing the sheets n cleening the room - gawd, I hope they do!!!!! 😲

BrokenWing · 01/09/2019 13:45

We just used the back seat of my car when we lived with parents

We found the font seat reclined was much more comfortable (or a field/wood, don't recommend a beach, too much sand), not sure if hotels did this without batting an eyelid in the 80s, I wouldn't have had the front to ask/book in way back then as they would know!

CosmicVaginaBiscuit · 01/09/2019 13:53

There are plenty of hotels that do this and websites dedicated to it
www.byhours.com/en/london-170591d.html

Have done it before for sex (not in a cheating context) and once to rest!

AlexaAmbidextra · 01/09/2019 13:59

We found the front seat reclined was much more comfortable

Now this is all very well until you borrow your Dad’s car and put your bare feet on the windscreen while dtd. Then a few days later on a family outing, the car mists up, your mother is in the passenger seat and right in front of her eyes your footprints appear. 😱

sodrained · 01/09/2019 13:59

I remember just going to the forest up the road with my ex in the evening wouldn't of even thought to get a hotel room Shock

Blueandredandblue · 01/09/2019 14:02

I'm pretty sure this is what ex did, when he was cheating on me

duffyluth · 01/09/2019 14:05

I have never checked out at a PI and I stay in them every month across the UK. Most have a box for your key card. They would never have a clue you had only stayed a couple of hours unless you made yourself known when leaving. I often forget to leave the key or leave it in the room anyway.

TheoriginalLEM · 01/09/2019 14:11

Alexa wins the thread Grin

TonTonMacoute · 01/09/2019 14:12

In France it is known as a cinq á sept, a quickie after work but before going home.

A friend of mine worked in a pretty upmarket hotel, and people fairly frequently used to take a room for the afternoon.

duffyluth · 01/09/2019 14:13

OP, why can't you and your man stay the night at the hotel? Why does it have to be 2 hours? If you are both as free as you say, you can have a night away.

LadyRannaldini · 01/09/2019 14:17

If you're near an airport they often do a rate for a few hours, it's for people with a long lay-over but you'll probably fit that definition!!

TheQueef · 01/09/2019 14:19

I can think of better things to spend £50 on.
