Mum gave daughter rotten milk

Mum accidentally gave my daughter rotten milk in her cereal. We are about to leave for a 5 hour drive. She’s going to be sick isn’t she? Aibu to make my mum take my daughter in her car so she can deal with it?! So annoyed!

The key word in your post is ‘accidentally’. We all make mistakes.
It can’t have been that rotten or she wouldn’t have drank it, it tastes vile.

NannyR · 28/08/2019 16:45

How bad was it? I would have thought that if it was really "off", your mum would have noticed as she poured it (it would have been smelly and lumpy) and your daughter wouldn't have eaten it as the taste and smell would have been awful.

PennyGold · 28/08/2019 16:46

It was an accident.. nobody would willingly give someone "off" milk. She'll probably be absolutely fine as long as she doesn't know it's "off".

Woodlandwitch · 28/08/2019 16:46

She won’t throw up.

CecilyP · 28/08/2019 16:46

When you say rotten, what exactly do you mean?

NewAccount270219 · 28/08/2019 16:46

Off milk is gross but it doesn't automatically make you sick. I've had off milk on several occasions, and once threw it immediately back up but have never had a lasting sickness/food poisoning from it

LochJessMonster · 28/08/2019 16:47

Well she didn't do it on purpose and I imagine she was feeding your baby as a favour to you so YWBVU to make her throw up in her car.

Lexilooo · 28/08/2019 16:47

Was the milk actually off or just past its date?

I find it hard to believe that anyone would consume more than a couple of spoonfuls of genuinely off milk as it smells and tastes so bad.

Therefore I think she is unlikely to be sick (unless it is psychosomatic due to everyone flapping about the milk being off)

sweeneytoddsrazor · 28/08/2019 16:47

My daughter would be sick in your car on a 5 hour drive regardless of rotten milk or not. How rotten was it and how much did she have?

Bambamber · 28/08/2019 16:48

How much did your daughter actually eat?

Mrsjayy · 28/08/2019 16:49

Was it out of date or lumpy ? She might be fine it can't poison you have a vomit receptical handy .

Mrsjayy · 28/08/2019 16:50

Off milk tastes rancid your dd would have spat it out surely?

MonstranceClock · 28/08/2019 16:50

It was lumpy, I could smell as it as soon as walked into the kitchen. Daughter had it in cocopops so it had turned chocolatey. She said it tastes funny but my mum made her eat it all.

Your mum made a mistake - it's not reasonable to punish people for mistakes.

And if your daughter is sick, she will want you not your mum.

Was the milk actually rotten? Or just sour? If just sour she will probably be ok. She can't have eaten much anyway if it was literally rotten because it would have tasted foul. I expect all will be fine!

steff13 · 28/08/2019 16:51

If it didn't taste bad or smell bad, I'd think it was ok.

StormTreader · 28/08/2019 16:51

Do you mean really off milk, or "fine milk thats past the date printed on the bottle"?

MonstranceClock · 28/08/2019 16:51

Not worried about her being poisoned, she just gets car sick anyway and think rotten milk will make her more likely to be sick.

OP posts:
RebeccaRae · 28/08/2019 16:52

I'd she gets car sick anyway it's even more unreasonable to hold your mum responsible.

Ginger1982 · 28/08/2019 16:52

So she gets car sick anyway but your poor mum should have to deal with it?

Ginnymweasley · 28/08/2019 16:52

I've done this. My dd wanted a drink of milk 1st thing in the morning. I was tired and not concentrating. Poured her it and gave it to her. She drank half in one gulp. I then poured it into my tea and it curdled. She then comes up to me with the cup ",this milk tastes yukky". She was fine. If it wasnt noticed it probably wasnt that off tbh.

DowntonCrabby · 28/08/2019 16:53

Goodness with the update I’d be worrying that you’re Mum’s maybe not coping, how did she not notice?

Mrsjayy · 28/08/2019 16:53

It usually comes up our out quickly then that's it .

JacquesHammer · 28/08/2019 16:54

she just gets car sick anyway and think rotten milk will make her more likely to be sick

So you have strategies in place?

The most that would be reasonable to ask would be for your mum to lend you a sick bowl!

Hope you have an uneventful journey.

Singlenotsingle · 28/08/2019 16:54

Yoghourt, you mean?

MonstranceClock · 28/08/2019 16:54

I honestly have no idea how she didn’t notice! Definitely not losing her sense of smell. Very odd.
