Birthday. What present is reasonable to ask for? Not lighthearted. Very grabby.

DH wants to know what I want for my birthday. I normally say "nothing" and I get a cheque for £30 which is very nice but I would like a present this time. What's the best present you've been given? Doesn't need to be massively expensive but you can see he's thinking plus or minus £30.

Sweetpea55 · 27/08/2019 23:41

Best present was A kindle.

It's my birthday next week and iv taken delivery of a large heavy box ,I'm hoping its l'occitane Armande stuff.

LegallyBrunet · 27/08/2019 23:43

Best present my partner has ever got me:
A piece of jewellery I really love
Tickets for a musical that I’d been dying to see for ages

farfallarocks · 27/08/2019 23:45

Most romantic pressies were always things he had thought of himself. Flowers every month for a year, a present for each of the 5 senses. Sadly that sort of romance is long gone! Best present I ever got him was the rotisserie attachment for the bbq I kid you not! Loves that thing

scotwood · 27/08/2019 23:45

@Duck90

Nothing really. I just hang on to them for a few weeks then bin them

RosesAndRaindrops · 27/08/2019 23:48

Nice hotel away for 30 quid?! What are some of these posters on Grin or if serious tell me where lol.

I love

  • candles
  • books
  • nice bottle of wine
  • or maybe you might like a massage
PapaShango · 27/08/2019 23:50

I asked dh for a pair of wireless headphone. I’ve started jogging and my old ones keep getting tangled. Or maybe a nice perfume. A face cream/makeup that you’ve had your eye on. Something you fancy but would never buy for yourself

Fuckedoff1 · 27/08/2019 23:50

I'm loving all these ideas xx

Another zero at the end of the £30?

Minimum.

TriciaH87 · 27/08/2019 23:53

My Pandora charm bracelet. Started with the one charm on it now its half full. It means if dp can't think of anything for birthday or Christmas he adds a charm.

Fuckedoff1 · 27/08/2019 23:55

Actually, he he could get quite a few of these for £30 Smile

Wireless ear buds so I can listen to netflix in bed at night without disturbing OH.

I gave up this year while out shopping with DIL bought a coach handbag. When I got home told OH what he had bought me for my birthday. He forgot my birthday last year until facebook pinged him Angry

A fucking typewriter, mate. It's all I want. Do I get it? I'm saving....

FairyDust92 · 28/08/2019 00:00

I'd ask for make up. I love make up (not that I plaster myself in it everyday!) but I like nice make up. The highlighter I ask for is around £30-£40. I usually get my make up as gifts because i wouldn't usually go out and buy it so it's like a treat ☺️

Seren85 · 28/08/2019 00:00

Gig tickets
Make up
Contribution to something else that you really want
Flowers
Candles
30 quid on a pre pay card that you can use whenever you want to get coffee or a drink with each use being an hours free time worth

Cherrysoup · 28/08/2019 00:01

£30? A cheque? From your own husband?
So many questions there....hmm

My dh once gave me £30 from the joint account and a jar of pickle, plus a random dvd. He was working on my birthday which fell on a Bank Holiday. He’d known it was my birthday all year! He then sold the still shrink wrapped dvd. Nowadays, we tend to order what we want then wrap it.

Seren85 · 28/08/2019 00:03

Sorry, you asked what the best present we'd ever been given was. DH can't take credit for this one. I received a huge collage of my favourite music artist so with a poster, vinyl, badges on lovely fabric all framed. It is amazing. DH did once get his Mum to calligraphy my favourite song lyrics on pretty paper, that was very meaningful.

kateandme · 28/08/2019 00:10

a really nice hoodie
long cardigan
a phone
meal out
a nice pair of bf jeans
perfume
a milatary jacket
night in hotel
a puppy
a house
a car
cooking class
books
horse riding day
a dress
rugby top
hair cut an colour

FurrySlipperBoots · 28/08/2019 00:34

Theatre tickets - 'A comedy about a bank robbery' and 'The play that goes wrong' were both hilarious!

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 28/08/2019 00:34

Second the Pandora bracelet. I love mine, but sadly it is full. Lots of memories of a Mediterranean cruise we took when I officially retired. A bracelet is the start, then you will likely receive charms as gifts.

Also, I love gifts related to my hobbies, such as nice marker pens or pretty paper I can use to make cards. Things that I can't justify buying myself.

I might also enjoy something like a cooking lesson with DH.

Fuckedoff1 · 28/08/2019 00:39

A puppy couldn't be surpassed but sadly not an option as DD (dear dog) might not want anybody new yet . Would be my top one but not a realistic option. A pony? Can you still get those for £30 (and £5000 a year) Grin
