Not sure if I'm imagining this but there seems to be less and less paracetamol and other Over The Counter painkillers on the shelves in shops ? None in the local Aldi for weeks.

None in all our cheap shops, Bodycare, Savers, B&M, Home Bargains.
Not sure about Boots and Superdrug.

YesQueen · 27/08/2019 13:41

I have an injury at the moment that means I'm taking paracetamol and ibuprofen constantly, I recently discovered that you can buy big boxes over the counter. It's revolutionised my life as we don't live near any shops so keeping stocked up was a nightmare.

bellinisurge · 27/08/2019 13:50

Are you in the UK? @treeplop .

treeplop · 27/08/2019 14:04

Yes

bellinisurge · 27/08/2019 14:06

Where can you get large quantities of paracetamol over the counter without prescription?

treeplop · 27/08/2019 14:17

At any mainstream pharmacy, although I think both of mine have been Lloyd's.

bellinisurge · 27/08/2019 14:20

Define "big boxes "?

JingsMahBucket · 27/08/2019 14:32

@treeplop I’d also like to know your source of drugs for later reference Grin

BeerandBiscuits · 27/08/2019 16:19

Define "big boxes "?
I understood this to mean packs of 32 paracetomol, rather than the 16 tab packs sold in supermarkets.
You can buy 3 packs of the 32 tab size at pharmacies and online.

charliedawg · 27/08/2019 16:22

Support your local chemist might be a way to go

wildchild554 · 28/08/2019 17:38

I always stockpile ibuprofen and paracetamol when I'm out for my arthritis, they only last just over a couple days a pack. Soalways make sure I have plenty in so when I'm really struggling I don't have go out to buy it but have also noticed there seems to be less available

wildchild554 · 28/08/2019 17:42

@BeerandBiscuits I didn't know that, will enquire at the pharmacy this week will make ife alot easier

Hello1231 · 28/08/2019 17:47

Legally the maximum you can buy in one transaction is 32 (if there is a pharmacist on the premises), if somewhere is selling 3 boxes they are breaking the law (assuming you are in the UK).

edgen2019 · 28/08/2019 17:48

The Pound shops are selling paracetamol here in the South, no shortage of anything.

RB68 · 28/08/2019 17:51

Looks like it is all at Dorridge Sainsbury's (NR Solihull) so you can all head off there....

BubblesBuddy · 28/08/2019 17:55

Bercows. Will your tea bags last until 31 October? Hopefully your loo rolls too!

On another thread posters insisted panick buying wouldn’t lead to shortages. How wrong they are. Just wait until No Deal is a reality!

ooooohbetty · 28/08/2019 17:58

No shortages here. I buy it every week at lots of different shops and haven't noticed any difference in stock.

Schuyler · 28/08/2019 17:59

YANBU. I take 8 paracetamol a day for chronic pain. GP won’t prescribe due to cost which is fine but the max pharmacies will sell is around 96 tablets so I’m constantly buying. I have noticed a few shops have been short, although I’m not hugely worried yet.

RaspberryRippleCrisps · 28/08/2019 18:25

I wondered how long it would be before someone blamed it on Brexit! Grin

gowgow · 28/08/2019 18:28

I can't find 75mg aspirin - GP recommended.

I'm now cutting 300mg tabs into sort-of quarters.

JinglingHellsBells · 28/08/2019 18:36

It's threads like this that start people panic buying Hmm @damekindness

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 28/08/2019 19:05

I have thought that most of the supermarkets look half-empty for about the past month or so. Loads of empty spaces from fresh fruit and veg aisles to the freezer section. Same in most of the clothes shops...

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 28/08/2019 19:07

My mum takes paracetamol for arthritis (along with slow release morphine patches) and the whole family buy two packets every time we go anywhere that sells it because we can only buy enough for four days at a time. We've had no trouble buying it anywhere - supermarkets, pharmacies and discount stores.

Onlythelonelywelcome · 28/08/2019 19:23

treetop which shop can you get big boxes from?
