I know it’s hot but having a party in your garden tonight is a dick move.

We have work tomorrow even if they don’t.

I know it’s hot but it’s not ok to have a party on a work night when you are surrounded by neighbours - north london - is it!. Or am I being grumpy.

I know it’s still early but we’ve been here before and they’ll be out there for hours getting drunker and drunker and louder and louder.

It’s too hot to shut windows so it sounds like they’re in our garden.

We’ve had a long drive and I’d really like to go to sleep. Sad

Everyone is different but I do think this is being grumpy - providing it isn't a regular occurrence. Some people just get carried away in the good weather and a wee one off is fine I think but I'm a good sleeper and my 2 year old is usually ok with a bit of noise too.

We had someone on the neighbourhood group chat complain on Saturday night about a party at 11pm. That's way too early and it was Saturday!

Not ideal when work and school is back tomorrow but hopefully they'll have respect and keep it quiet enough

moleeye · 26/08/2019 22:25

That would piss me off.

We are in north London too, thankfully our neighbours never venture outside.

That would make me very angry. I feel your pain

almostautumn · 26/08/2019 22:26

Agree with you OP - the Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the bank holiday weekend would’ve been totally fine for a party. To hold one when most people are back at work tomorrow is just selfish.

Kitty1184 · 26/08/2019 22:26

Mine are doing exactly the same south of the river

KB197 · 26/08/2019 22:27

If it’s a regular occurrence then it would absolutely p**s me off. I might let it slide if it was just a one off though.

There’s a house behind me. Some kind of staff house for a nearby hotel. A few men live there and they are often out drinking in the garden, being loud. Infuriating! But what can I do?

TheGlitterFairy · 26/08/2019 22:28

West London here and a bbq party earlier but all indoors now and done! If it’s a one off or not v often, probs fair enough!! Will be winter soon and no outdoors fun!!

Mammajay · 26/08/2019 22:28

I think you should tell them its a work day tomorrow.@

Finfintytint · 26/08/2019 22:29

If it’s infrequent then I’d put up with it. It’s just one of those annoying things about living close to people.
I don’t really like people that much so rural living is a saviour. This may be difficult in North London from my Mid Wales perspective though Grin

DidYeAyee · 26/08/2019 22:29

Why are weekends ok? Plenty of people have to work the weekends, even bank holidays. Why is it seen as acceptable to disturb them but not people who work "office hours".

misspiggy19 · 26/08/2019 22:30

Not everyone will be working tomorrow. If it is a one off I would let it go

Shortysoso · 26/08/2019 22:31

I wouldn’t complain at this time on a weekend - I wouldn’t like it but I appreciate that would qualify as grumpy.

But it’s work tomorrow and I’d like a good nights sleep, that’s all.

I need to move to your street Moleeye! I dream of neighbours who don’t go out (or would if I could get to sleep).

Can other people really sleep through a party next door!? How? Even with ear-plugs I can’t.

Aye my thoughts exactly.

romany4 · 26/08/2019 22:32

You'd love my neighbour. She went out last night and came back at 1am along with half the club. Cue screaming and laughing in the garden till 5am this morning. Kept most of the street awake. She was off today.
I was at work at 7 this morning. Less than impressed.

Nonnymum · 26/08/2019 22:32

I agree, it's very swldish to parties in the garden. Especially with very loud music. So even with the windows closed. And TV on you can still hear it. I sympathise with you

dollydaydream114 · 26/08/2019 22:34

If it's a one-off I'd probably just put some earplugs in, really. As a PP has said, just because it's a work night for office workers it doesn't mean it's a work night for everybody.

If it happens all the time then fair enough, I'd be pissed off too, but I'd accept an isolated incident as reasonable I think.

Shortysoso · 26/08/2019 22:35

They’re singing now

I suspect it’s the teenagers (and all their mates) a couple of doors up - so no work or responsibilities - sigh.

letsdolunch321 · 26/08/2019 22:38

Possibly tomorrow is not a work
Day for these people. I wouldn't be happy though.

Shortysoso · 26/08/2019 22:40

Don’t get me wrong; I’d love to be a member of the ‘live and let live; let it go’ club.

But I can’t sleep, which means I’ll start my busy working week tired.

How can that not make me frustrated and a bit pissed off?

Or, to put it another way- how do you chilled people sleep through parties?

Also, what is with the screaming? I can’t recall the last time I screamed - garden party goers seem to emit at least three shrieks a minute. Why!?

OP posts:
Basketofkittens · 26/08/2019 22:40

It’s just selfish. Most people are I’m afraid.

ElfAndSafetyBored · 26/08/2019 22:41

I feel your pain. We have been suffering the same all summer - it’s not even parties. He’s just sitting in his garden with big speakers pumping irritating music all over the neighbourhood.
He’s an arsehole and I am wishing very bad things upon him.

Shortysoso · 26/08/2019 22:43

I’m praying for rain in the short term and a lottery win in the longer term.
Neither are likely.

OP posts:
Fuckface7 · 26/08/2019 22:44

I completely sympathise OP. I hope you get some sleep. Sometimes people are just selfish twats. X

Lollypop701 · 26/08/2019 22:44

Silicon ear plugs really help.....

TimeWastingButFun · 26/08/2019 22:44

It's totally selfish. OK if they can talk in low tones after 11 or so and have any music quiet but people often get loud when they've been drinking. We're lucky not to have neighbours, I definitely wouldn't be able to sleep through that! Can you get some good noise cancelling headphones for next time and put some nice music on?

Shortysoso · 26/08/2019 22:46

Neither is likely (I’m tired, as discussed).

Yay they’re getting louder.
