About uber eats

Hi
Name change for a more fitted one. Probably the most boring AIBU you'll come across, but still need to verify if I'm still sane
Today, as a treat, I ordered Macdonald through uber eats. 2 happy meals and 1 adult meal.
I get the delivery and realise straight away that one of the kids' meal is missing.
I try to call but I'm told I need to do an online reclamation.
I'm the meantime my 6yo is upset but knows I'm sorting this out. She's watching her brother eating while she's just there, starving and disappointed.
The app says it can take up to 24h to get a reply
I decide to reorder her meal thinking that uber is a reasonable company and will refund me the money I've paid extra.
Little did I know that they would only refund the meal and not the additional delivery fee of 3.50 pounds (which was more than the happy meal)
IABU to insist they do on the basis that they are a delivery company that failed to deliver the item ordered? Or do I just suck it up and boycott them for the rest of eternity?

Why didn’t you just feed your daughter the adult food or share that with her instead? Who lets their daughter go hungry and scoff their meal before her?!!! Confused

My opinion is this is nothing to do with Uber Eats and everything to do with McDonalds getting the order wrong.

The Uber Eats drivers just pick up a package and deliver it and you pay for that service. However I do believe that McDonalds should refund you the £3.50 themselves.

TDogsInHats · 26/08/2019 12:40

Just as an aside, if you have Tesco clubcard points, these can be trebled up on Uber and used for Uber eats.
I do this. Apparently the Uber credit needs to be used within six months (used to be two years)

UberEattamere · 26/08/2019 13:37

@KatherineJaneway I agree but the problem is that I have no contact with McDonald's but uber does hence my reasoning

@TDogsInHats thanks for the tip
Will probably try and avoid them in the future but always good to know

YABU for getting McDonald's, especially for getting it delivered.

KatherineJaneway · 26/08/2019 14:32

@UberEattamere

That's interesting, I would have assumed your contract was with McDonalds.

KatherineJaneway · 26/08/2019 14:34

I genuinely have no idea why people use these services; how far can you be from a McDonald's; I'd just go and get my own!

I was ill but very hungry so I ordered a milkshake and a few other bits as I couldn’t make food for myself.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/08/2019 15:21

Some places are very far from a McDonald's, but they aren't the ones getting it delivered as they only deliver within a 1.5 mile radius.

We went on holiday in Wales a couple of years ago and came across an extraordinarly busy McDonalds, which just seemed very odd in such a small town but a little research on their app revealed that the next nearest were an hour's drive away in any direction.

Interesting, you must be genuinely lacking in any imagination. I can think of several reasons why a person would be unable to go to their nearest McDonald's. Hmm

QuestionableMouse · 26/08/2019 15:29

If you phone the McDonald's and complain they'll probably offer you a free meal/replacement. Ask for a salaried manager or the business manager.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 26/08/2019 15:42

@SurferRona OP has already said she didn't eat until her daughter's food arrived. And it's entirely plausible that maybe the daughter doesn't like what OP had ordered for herself. DS wouldn't go near a burger with any kind of sauce/mayo/mustard on it and would rather starve than eat mine if his customised one hadn't arrived.

UberEattamere · 26/08/2019 16:39

@QuestionableMouse I'll try that

@Cheeserton 👍
Thanks. Arse to it.

sunshinecoast132 · 07/09/2019 17:26

They are a bit of a disaster. I ordered a 12 pizzas from them, and they were delivered in two batches - 45 minutes apart. After a long phone call they decided to refund me the £3 delivery charge. Safe to say I wasn't pleased.

bluetongue · 08/09/2019 03:13

Lots of Ubereats delivery people around here on pushbikes, not riding very fast. I always wonder how hot the food is when it gets to you.
