About uber eats

Hi
Name change for a more fitted one. Probably the most boring AIBU you'll come across, but still need to verify if I'm still sane
Today, as a treat, I ordered Macdonald through uber eats. 2 happy meals and 1 adult meal.
I get the delivery and realise straight away that one of the kids' meal is missing.
I try to call but I'm told I need to do an online reclamation.
I'm the meantime my 6yo is upset but knows I'm sorting this out. She's watching her brother eating while she's just there, starving and disappointed.
The app says it can take up to 24h to get a reply
I decide to reorder her meal thinking that uber is a reasonable company and will refund me the money I've paid extra.
Little did I know that they would only refund the meal and not the additional delivery fee of 3.50 pounds (which was more than the happy meal)
IABU to insist they do on the basis that they are a delivery company that failed to deliver the item ordered? Or do I just suck it up and boycott them for the rest of eternity?

Here’s a thought: couldn’t you have given her some of yours? To take the edge of the starvation?

scotwood · 26/08/2019 00:12

I genuinely have no idea why people use these services; how far can you be from a McDonald's; I'd just go and get my own!

Ah, the slow of thinking!

OooErMissus · 26/08/2019 00:17

And on a Sunday its even more likely to be 45 min

Isn't it cold by the time it gets to you?

McDonalds is usually cold by the time you open the bag, even when eating in.

NoodlesMcGee · 26/08/2019 00:24

OP - you have bigger problems with parenting and general intelligence than Uber Eats here if you left a child to go hungry, watching her DB eat his Happy Meal, when 1 adult meal had been delivered. Adults who eat when little children look on hungry are vile.

YABVVVVU

Cheeserton · 26/08/2019 00:27

What the hell is Macdonald?

scotwood · 26/08/2019 00:30

What the hell is Macdonald?

It's the really fucking obvious misspelling of McDonald's. What's your point?

Shakennotshook · 26/08/2019 00:38

It depends who your contract is with surely? In this scenario its ubereats so its them that owe you the refund.

PumpkinP · 26/08/2019 00:56

Even if it is McDonald’s mistake they will not help the op they will tell her to take it up with Uber eats. And there is no minimum spend, I know this because my dd who is 2 got hold of my phone and decided to order 1 single burger! I only know when the Uber driver knocked on my door and handed it to me.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/08/2019 03:12

It sounds like Uber eats just pick up a bag of food and deliver it to the customer. They don't know what has been ordered and checking that the order is correct is not part of the service.

The OP should have shared what food they had between the three of them while waiting for the rest of the order.

As far as Uber were concerned, the second happy meal was an entirely different order, so charged accordingly, but I agree that it should be in the contract, ie those pages and pages of T&Cs that we all agree to and no-one ever reads, who is responsible for bearing the cost of correcting mistakes. I suspect that the OP will get her second delivery charge back but obviously it will take a little time for someone to process the complaint.

To be honest, it sounds like far too much hassle and if McDonald's is not easily accessible, I'd just keep some easy food like pizza or nuggets in the freezer and cook my own and save McDonald's for when I am going near one.

Cheeserton · 26/08/2019 10:15

It's the really fucking obvious misspelling of McDonald's. What's your point?
That it's a really fucking obvious silly misspelling of it, particularly when written correctly by others a thousand times. What's your fucking point?

Sparklesocks · 26/08/2019 10:39

Cheeserton people knew what it meant regardless of spelling, does it really matter in the big scheme of things?

UberEattamere · 26/08/2019 11:42

@NoodlesMcGee she ate her dessert while waiting and no I didn't eat if you had read properly you would have seen that I ate my food cold while waiting for the second delivery but we'll done for managing to be bitchy without a need for it. And my son did offer to share but she doesn't like beef so waited for her meal instead

@BarbaraofSeville I agree that's why I think they should have some sort of insurance policy and charge the second delivery to the restaurant (chain of responsibility)
I've got a contract with uber.
they have a contract with the restaurant

@escapade1234 she ate her dessert while waiting and she didn't want what we had ordered (she doesn't eat beef)

OP I don't know why you are giving a thumbs up to cheese. They posted nothing other than a nasty dog at you for a misspelling.

scotwood · 26/08/2019 11:50

*dig Blush

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 26/08/2019 11:53

I ordered a McDonald's breakfast through uber eats a few days ago with a strawberry shake instead of juice. It arrived sans straw. Have you ever tried to drink a thick shake without a straw? It was a pain!!

UberEattamere · 26/08/2019 11:54

@scotwood 😂😂😂
I always have a pb writing mcdonald as I hear Macdonald
Surely the MC is short for Mac right? However I agree it was misspelled but surely not to the point of causing confusion @Cheeserton

OP posts:
UberEattamere · 26/08/2019 11:55

@scotwood it was meant to be ironic Blush

I defended you last night. I don't know why you are giving a thumbs up to the poster who jumped on the spelling and tried to make you look like a twat. It was obviously a misspell, and cheese was just being nasty.

scotwood · 26/08/2019 11:56

Ah sorry, I didn't pick up on that Blush
