AIBU?

AIBU to be pissed off with Greggs?

So,two weeks ago I go in my local branch of Greggs to buy my usual vegetable bake. Sorry says the 12year old boy man behind the counter, but we have no vegetable bakes today. The same thing happened again the next day,and the next. On the fourth day,I asked the manageress what was the problem with the vegetable bakes. Apparently, they hadn't been sent any,and wouldn't be for the 'foreseeable future'.
I am not a vegetarian or a vegan, but I am not a big meat eater. I don't like beef, lamb or ham. I like chicken, but I am not a fan of most of their chicken sandwiches/baguettes etc as they are smothered in mayonnaise which I detest.
Then yesterday,I read in a newspaper that Greggs are in the process of 'substantially extending their vegan range'. Apparently, their vegan sausage roll has been so successful, that they are going to be rolling out a load more vegan options in their stores. (Just for the record,I can't eat the vegan sausage rolls as they contain quorn, and quorn makes me ill).
I am annoyed by the fact that they have stopped selling their vegetable bakes, but are increasing their vegan range. I appreciate that the veggie bakes are probably not vegan, but am I right in thinking that those of us who are vegetarian and not vegan,or like me,aren't much of a meat eater, are being sidelined, while they fall over themselves to extend their vegan range?

I can't eat quorn anymore - d and v every time.

Was disappointed that the vegan sausage roll was quite. Tesco and linda McCartney stuff is so much nicer.

The product obviously wasn't selling. I'm annoyed they stopped selling bread pudding here!

Do you know that Iceland sell these in packs of two to heat up at home?

Think the OP was only going back to see if they had got any in. I think it's a shame too as I loved their veg bakes and it's not the same buying frozen and heating it up at home. All this fuss about being vegan-I've been veggie for years. I think it's just trendy to be vegan at the moment. 😉

Their vegan sausage rolls are not quorn!

It is just temporary, they will be back along with the steak and cheese roll. They are having supply issues with them. I don't know when but they aren't gone for good.

CamembertIt, I am not quite, but my family are, so I am there a lot. And you are so right about cheese straws!!

Sorry just googled and see I’m wrong it is Quorn, I’m surprised as it doesn’t taste like it to me!

I realise this may come as a shock to you, OP, but a nationwide bakery chain isn’t there to cater specifically for your personal needs and will focus on the products that sell rather than the ones that happen to be your particular favourites. It’s Gregg’s, not your private chef.

I like their southern fried chicken baguette with sweet chilli sauce that they stick in the oven. They are rarely in stock now.

Fucks me off.

Makes me sick.

Every time I go into Greggs, I can't get my favourite sandwich. Maybe it's the ones local to me, but they ALWAYS seem to run out of stock, and quite early in the day too.

it's just that more people are realising how cruel the dairy and egg business is. Dairy cows and their cows suffer, as do hens. All the baby boy chicks are either gassed or macerated when hatched.

It's interesting to see so many comments from folk who (like me) just cannot digest Quorn - was amazed when the Gregg's vegan sausage roll came out that a) wasn't really mentioned that it was Quorn and b) more people weren't pointing out that after eating one they'd been really ill.

To the OP, however, I agree that it is infuriating when something you love stops being stocked (doesn't matter if it is Gregg's or Fortnum and Mason). Also, I am 70/30 vegan/vegetarian - don't get me started on the amount of veggie and/or vegan ingredients (e.g "chicken" fillets that have been replaced by vegan junk food.

If the sandwich you want isn't out ask if they can make you one. If they have the ingredients they should do it.

The cheese and onion bake isn't as nice as the vegetable bake, so that is annoying. I don't like the vegan sausage rolls either. Hopefully if they scrap the veggie bakes, I could stop eating so much pastry Confused

If they hadn't been sent any it could just be a supply chain issue rather than a decision to no longer stock them. I work for a restaurant chain and every now and then a product will be unavailable for a few deliveries in a row. And yes I do have to deal with people with talk-to-a-manager haircuts telling me that they are outraged, and only made the TWENTY minute drive because they wanted specifically wanted shrimp or some such shit.

YANBU! Ive been a vegetarian for 23 years. Always had to make do with ordering side orders and trying to cobble things together to make a meal when eating out. Lots of people taking the piss and waving their bacon sandwiches in my face. For a short while, vegetarian food became popular and I finally had a little choice, now veganism has exploded and im back down to cobbling meals together as im not a fan of fake meat products. And all the arseholes who waved their bacon in my face are now virtuous vegans who chastise me for wanting goats cheese with my salad. Fuckers. post only semi light hearted - I know im being pissy but I still kinda mean it!

I feel like, 'they sell them in Iceland, two for £1.50', is the new cancel the cheque.
They won't sell what doesn't make money, YABU as you clearly were not buying enough of them to keep them in stock.

I'm alarmed at the Vegan sausage roll... exactly how many rolls do you get per vegan? Does anyone know what they were fed on?

Even more so when you're coeliac, I've still not forgiven Genius for discontinuing their croissant and pain au chocolat.

They're struggling to keep up production of everything they make. DH is a project manager in food factory building and has said there's lots of work to extend their factories to keep up with demand. Dodo to worry your vegan pastry will be readily available soon!

Off topic, but I don't care if it is trendy to be vegan at the moment. It's bloody brilliant for me as someone who can't eat eggs or dairy such as milk.
Which are both in absofukinlootely everything when eating out or in food in general.
Can eat cheesecake, ice cream, all sorts!
Bring on veganism lol
Meats still here, don't know why people get so threatened. You have what you like surely. Neither's going anywhere soon.

The vegan sausage rolls are heavily flavoured, and very over salted Quorn and not always fresh. I would prefer a vegetable bake if I am forced to buy from Greggs due to lack of other options.

The pizza is foul. Never seen a cheese & onion bake, sometimes a space where they used to be. There isn't much for me to eat in Greggs, it is poor quality and mostly aimed at people who don't mind eating ground up animal bollocks and the like, covered in palm oil pastry which is supposedly sustainable.

I don't get the attraction with Greggs.
