To hate this awful weather

I was been bitten five times yesterday and now have unsightly red blotches on my arms and legs. I’ve spent today sweating like crazy all over (face, scalp, you name it) while attempting to keep cool in the furnace that is inner London. Tomorrow DH and I have been invited to a bbq and I’m having real anxiety about going, as I know I’ll be so hot and sweaty in front of the other guests Blush I also had loads of chores I needed to get done today which hasn’t happened as it’s been too hot to move. AIBU?

Bliss! Got the fans on in every room and windows open.

Treaclepie19 · 25/08/2019 21:16

YANBU!

almostautumn · 25/08/2019 21:41

Glad I’m not the only one! I’m absolutely dreading this bbq tomorrow - how do most people remain so cool and composed in 31C heat? Confused

It has been way too much today. But because it's larer in the year it does cool down at night at least.

You’d have thought so - but it’s still 17C all night tonight in London! Although if it was June it’d be more like low to mid 20s probably, so it could be worse...

I am off on a city break tomorrow to a European city (whilst I still can!) and it's 31 all week. 🥵 I think I will give in and do the bus tour and drink lots of beer cool drinks

almostautumn · 25/08/2019 21:48

Last summer was utterly hideous and I am so relieved not to have had it repeated.

Totally agree - thank goodness it’s only been the occasional few days this year rather than weeks on end of heat. Although commuting in London on that day a few weeks ago, when it was 38C, was utterly nightmarish!

Only one more day of this awful weather and then it’s over for seven months! Grin

@almostautumn

YABVVVVVU.

This weather is lush, and I absolutely love it!

RossPoldarksWife · 26/08/2019 22:07

Send some down to Cornwall, it’s been raining here 😩

AmIChangingagain · 26/08/2019 22:09

YABsoU

We've had approximately 10 decent days this year

I had my heating on last week and this was the first non rainy day since June so damned right u was enjoying it

KatherineJaneway · 26/08/2019 22:14

Last night some neighbours decided to have a birthday party that went on until 3am. No music think goodness but I had to shut all the doors and windows as they were so noisy. I guess they assume no one works on a bank holiday.

almostautumn · 26/08/2019 22:18

Sounds lovely. Thankfully the temps in London drop by almost 10C on Wednesday to a very normal 23C - bliss!

I loathe summer. I'm in America and I am absolutely miserable.

ilovesooty · 26/08/2019 23:04

As stated up thread we've not had many warm days this summer. Certainly not as many cold damp and miserable days as we'll get in the coming months.

userxx · 26/08/2019 23:17

@AmIChangingagain 👏👏 I'm loving it too.

Is that a bite @YesQueen? Looks nasty!

I’m wide awake as I can’t sleep in the ridiculous heat - it’s so close and uncomfortable. I’m going to be exhausted tomorrow. Roll on Wednesday!!

YANBU

Heat is relentless

HeronLanyon · 27/08/2019 03:34

Heat exhaustion for me yesterday - really sick. First time ever here in uk. Realised I’m going to have to accommodate this heat in ways I’ve never had to before. Partly my own fault and it’s taught me a lesson.

Please keep eye out for elderly neighbours/family - lots really struggle when heat lasts. Recently lost my lovely old ma and just been thinking I’m glad she’s not having to deal with this.

YesQueen · 27/08/2019 07:09

@almostautumn no, hives
