When is the damn bunny!

My dd will be 5 next month and since turning two she has adopted a bunny as her comforter and what she will not sleep without!

I naively though we were safe and we would never loose it as it never leaves the house!

Guess what! We cannot find the bunny, last seen Saturday morning, not seen since, and we never let it leave the house!

We have searched, dh previously as I’ve just had the last few days doing 14hr shifts, and today I’ve searched.
We cannot find it! Dd is now not accepting that bunny is on an adventure, she wants bunny back... like yesterday!

Where could this bunny be?
Where have you found things that you thought you had lost?

My biggest fear is my youngest age 19months posted it in the bin as it is her favouring thing to put things in the bin. We usually check the bin bags but dh admitted he never checked the last three bin bags that went out, and we had our fortnightly collection yesterday!

Help!
She has the same bunny in different colours and sizes but they are not the same! 🙄 so a replacement one won’t work.

Under any of the mattresses? Behind the fridge, back of the sofa cushion, under sofa? Washing basket?

icanhearapindrop · 23/08/2019 02:18

In sleeves! But of a random one, but nursery taught my DC to put their gloves in their coat sleeves, and I often found teddies hidden in there after that!

icanhearapindrop · 23/08/2019 02:19

Or, with a 19 month old, inside saucepans or bowls etc in kitchen cupboards. Don’t rule anything out!!

managedmis · 23/08/2019 02:20

I have no idea.

I'm currently searching for my cars keys that have gone missing so I feel your pain at least

ARGH!

DontCallMeShitley · 23/08/2019 02:59

What was the bunny like? Should we start looking for a new one?

Alicewond · 23/08/2019 03:01

Tell her it’s had to go off to prepare for easter, write her a note from it saying it’s sorry but will send her eggs

Sobeyondthehills · 23/08/2019 03:11

On the off chance do you have a nurse or doctor in the family?

One of the many excuses I have used is that bunny was injured and in hospital but auntie whoever I could get hold of quickly was looking after them.

I would then get photos sent of bunny being in hospital with a bandage from my very talented sister, who bought the original bunny and had to go and buy the same damn one (I blame her still for this)

Looking back, we went to some extreme lengths to insist that this was the real bunny, one included, him being in Italy

Yeahnahmum · 23/08/2019 03:51

Tell her it is lost
She is 5. She will understand that
And tell her to help you look for it.
Everywhere. But mostly in the most unlikely places considering you have a 19month old ..and they do weird stuff 😁

sashh · 23/08/2019 04:11

Do you have a cat flap? Child number 2 might have posted it.

In the fridge? I once found my carer's glasses in the fridge.

Under the bed, any bed, including spare room if you have one.

Down the back of a radiator,

Where was bunny seen on Saturday?

EiraElephant · 23/08/2019 04:13

The fact that you have said "when" is the bunny I find amusing because it reminds me of the Netflix show Dark - "The question is not where is he, it is when is he?" It's time-travel related so I'm sorry but your bunny is gone. :(

onioncrumble · 23/08/2019 07:08

I feel your pain. We found Mouse 13 years later and there were tears all round! Mouse was found in the bottom of an elderly sleeping bag in our storage. Wine

hopewardrobe · 23/08/2019 07:10

Inside her duvet cover or pillowcase.

Justonemoremojito · 23/08/2019 07:13

We have a 5 year old & bunny so feel your pain! Bags, toy kitchen/shop, wardrobes drawers, wash basket..... I have experience in this Blush

Broken11Girl · 23/08/2019 07:16

Sorry, bunny has gone on an adventure with the bin men Grin Can you get a new one?

FannyGall0ps · 23/08/2019 07:24

Do you have a garden? Is bunny outside in a bush?

SugarPlumLairy2 · 23/08/2019 07:33

Ok I feel weird saying this but My Nan used to do this “thing” when something was lost ....now for the record, I’m neither superstitious or religious ...but .. it somehow seemed to work? Maybe it just kinda fools you into believing it will be found and your brain reminds itself where item is? I dont know, but it can’t hurt...

Think of the item and say “ St Anthony, St Anthony, please look around. Something’s been lost which cannot be found.” Then look for it... in all the places you’ve already tried too.

If you find it my Nan was insistent that you say Thank you (she used to light a little candle for him).

Really hope you find it👍

OkOkWhatsNext · 23/08/2019 07:40

It’s always inside something. A bag, a duvet cover, a ride-on car with a flip up seat, the box of a board game...!

Chickenish · 23/08/2019 07:53

I have this thing where I have to give up and sit down. Then my eyes will work out where it is.

Alternatively, frantic searching never finds anything. It’s fine tooth comb calm slow searching (after bedtime).

Sounds like you need a bin lock.

HerkyBaby · 23/08/2019 08:10

Between the mattress and the wall? Pull the entire bed out.

sawyersfishbiscuits · 23/08/2019 08:17

Washing basket
In the bottom of a bag for life
Under a pile of towels
Pants drawer
Mixed in with clothes somewhere

gk6277 · 23/08/2019 08:48

My car keys were missing for 3 days, they were discovered inside the seat compartment of my toddler DD's push along car/walker that had a lift up lid for storage. Perhaps Bunny is somewhere similar?

Daffodil101 · 23/08/2019 08:51

Our bunny was in the glove compartment of the car

Ginnymweasley · 23/08/2019 08:59

My dd is 4 and has a bunny that she still uses for bedtimes so I feel your pain. Have you checked under the mattress? My ds likes to post things out of the cat flap or letter box. When I was a kid my mum once found some of my teddies behind my drawers. I had been throwing them and my aim wasnt great haha.

Barmaid101 · 23/08/2019 09:20

Thank you everyone, I’m going to start working my way through these suggestions!

I don’t think a replacement would do, she has so many jelly cat bunnies and she always had several but that’s the one she took to. She has the same size/design in 4 other colours! But bigger and smaller ones.

When I’ve searched for bin locks I can only find ones for wheelie bins? Any idea where I can get one?

Wilko have child multi purpose safety locks. They curve and stick to the side and lid so you have to push the button to unlock. Not sure how childproof they are but its an idea.
