accrossthepond55 thank you, yes. I was made redundant whilst I was pregnant and am trying to job hunt. Failing to find something that works logistically, is interesting and pays enough to feed the mortgage!!

Hmmm... well I didn't totally change. I think the ones who change most obviously are those who live for the child stuff and don't retain many of the characteristics of their previous life. I still work at the same place and get to go out at weekends as I'm a single parent and they see their dad. But I am probably different in the way I make decisions - planning for the children and wanting them to have a good life over my own plans sometimes etc

The quote in the OP suggests that becoming a parent shouldn't have changed me. I would be an utterly shit human being not to have been changed by having children.
