Do you judge bad diets even if the person is of a healthy weight?

I'm not sure I do, I'm probably more inclined to judge someone for eating bird food if they're being all holier than thou about it

I don’t judge other people’s diets at all.

CassianAndor · 21/08/2019 15:22

I don't tend to take a lot of notice what other people are eating but yes, I'd judge someone who ate unhealthy crap (and gave it to their DC), even if they were all skinny as rakes.

Judging people for eating healthily (I take it that's what you mean by 'bird food' Hmm) sounds pretty stupid to me. But then, so does using the phrase 'bird food'.

dollydaydream114 · 21/08/2019 15:23

I don't judge anyone else's diet regardless of what size they are, really. People have all sorts of reasons for eating the way they do.

Moonshake · 21/08/2019 15:27

I don't judge people in a negative way, but sometimes I wonder in a curious sort of way what has caused people to eat the way they do.

Kazzyhoward · 21/08/2019 15:30

Being overweight is only one aspect of an unhealthy diet.

Plenty of "thin" people have high cholesterol, heart disease, blocked arteries, liver/kidney diseases etc caused, in part, by what they eat and drink, even if it doesn't make them fat!

Judging my phrasing is Hmm

I said the people that think they're better than others because they eat organic quinoa are the ones I judge

I will admit a heavy degree of Schadenfraude when my friend put on weight.

After years of eating like a fucking horse (think supersized feasts 4x a day when living with her and not doing the washing up), AND sanctimoniously lecturing about diets and her superior genes, she suddenly ballooned.

Couldn't help but thinking, ha!

Beesandcheese · 21/08/2019 15:32

None of my beeswax

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 21/08/2019 15:32

I hardly have a perfect diet AND I'm 2 stone overweight but I do wince a bit at what some people say they eat. I'm also on that Rate My Plate facebook group and am staggered by the amount of food on some plates. Would never say anything though.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 21/08/2019 15:34

Lol at the ranking of judgeyness on here!

steff13 · 21/08/2019 15:36

I don't judge anyone else's diet, because it's none of my business.

Herocomplex · 21/08/2019 15:37

I never eat salad when I eat out as it’s made me ill on a few occasions. I’m chubby and a few people have made salad dodger comments if I leave it on my plate.

CassianAndor · 21/08/2019 15:38

why? Your phrasing shows your judgement loud and clear.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 21/08/2019 15:39

I'll hold my hands up and confess that I definitely judge what other people eat! I'm just as hard on myself though. And I'd never say anything to someone about what they were eating or think that they were a bad person for eating it.

0lga · 21/08/2019 15:40

Why do you look down on people eating quinoa @uppershopping? Can you tell it’s organic just looking at it or do you have to ask?

Do you despise people eating other seeds and grains or just that one ?

AutumnCrow · 21/08/2019 15:41

@Herocomplex they are silly, cruel people. Family, by any chance??

Herocomplex · 21/08/2019 15:44

Ha! No. People who’ve usually had a bit too much to drink. Weirdly that doesn’t seem to count, despite the fact it’s empty calories!
Don’t worry, I have a very sharp tongue, no one does it twice!

dayslikethese1 · 21/08/2019 15:45

I don't look at what other people are eating but I must say I do slightly judge when adults tell me they 'hate all vegetables'. Seems to be surprisingly common but I find it odd.

TrainspottingWelsh · 21/08/2019 15:49

Only time it crosses my mind to care is when it’s certain people I know, who might be within a healthy weight range statistically but are neither slim nor remotely toned or fit, and they start banging on about their wonderful high protein/ low carb diet, versus my normal balanced diet and ‘how I will get fat eating that/ aren’t I worried I will get fat/ you won’t keep your figure’ and so on. When the evidence clearly dictates otherwise.

In which case I judge them as being a bit thick when it comes to nutrition and very narrow minded if they think everyone shares their low level of activity and exercise.

Myriade · 21/08/2019 15:52

I ‘judge’ people diet regardless of their weight. In that, I’m thinking they are taking a risk with their health.
I dint judge the reasons WHY they are doing so because there are so many reasons it is the case (from having no idea what is or isn’t healthy, to having no time, having some MH issues, caring for someone, trying to hold all together etc etc etc).
I would also notice if someone is following a specific diet but again would never judge the reasons WHY they are doing so (incl deciding to not have any gluten, Be vegetarian etc)

Kaykay06 · 21/08/2019 15:53

Life is too short to be caring about other people’s diets and if they are healthy unless they are immediate family really. I certainly don’t judge anyone else
Weird thread, concentrate on you and yours

Myriade · 21/08/2019 15:55

@TrainspottingWelsh, fwiw the research is showing that high protein-low carb diet are actually very good to help manage weight and blood sugar issue. In the same way than the Mediterranean diet does.

There is NO ‘normal and balanced diet’ but many diets that look, on paper, opposite to each other but which are having very similar results on the body. Backed by research.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 21/08/2019 15:55

I couldn't give a shit what other people eat.

Dungeondragon15 · 21/08/2019 15:56

Unless you live with someone how would you know whether or not they eat a "bad diet"?

velocitygirl7 · 21/08/2019 15:57

I'm very slim, my diet is possibly deemed by others as not great or a bit odd maybe but I have coeliacs and have had a lifetime of my body reacting horribly to all kinds of foods.
So, at almost 50, I know what weird combination of food works for me and couldn't give a toss if others are judging me for eating any of it!!
