To buy alcohol this morning

I'm meeting a friend for coffee at her house at 10am today.

I planned on stoping at Tesco at 9.30am to buy a bottle of her favourite gin for her (belated gift) but DH said that NO shops are allowed to sell booze before lunchtime, is this true?!

I've Googled and can't find a definitive answer! Can anyone enlighten me?

I've bought whisky for a staff birthday present from a Tesco Extra on the way to work a few times, definitely about 8am..

Necking communion wine

Haven't been to communion in about 30 years. Have they got more generous? My memory is of a bare lip wetting with vinegar.

Ahhhh all done! One lovely bottle of gin now safely in its gift bag (brilliant suggestion, thank you).

I got a funny look from the cashier but I think only to vet whether I was 25 or over. No ID was requested, sadly.

Will text a 'YOU WERE WRONG' to DH. He was convinced I wouldn't be able to buy it.

Off to see my friend, she'll be over the moon.
