I just want to know if it's going ahead or not. It's currently ssc and I'm not taking any more viewings but I think they've had long enough to get back in touch with me.

48 hours is really not a long time. There could be a multitude of reasons that they haven't got in contact. I think you just need to be patient and not worry. When we had our last survey done, it was with our solicitors for about a week before we even had a chance to see it.

BillywilliamV · 13/08/2019 06:14

I’d be worried after a week. Assume ‘no news is good news’ till you hear different,

Likethebattle · 13/08/2019 06:18

It’s actually sold though if it’s ssc?

Shortandsweet20 · 13/08/2019 06:21

Our solicitors had our contracts for about a week and a half before I even knew it was back! I wouldn't worry!

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 13/08/2019 06:22

Have they had the survey for 48 hours or was it done 48 hours ago? Also sometimes things get flagged up that may need referring to mortgage company. Solicitor will need to check it also.

AJPTaylor · 13/08/2019 06:27

It's quite possible that there is nothing of concern. I paid for a valuation on our current house. Expected nothing to come up and nothing did.

089ville · 13/08/2019 06:39

What do you mean? It's ssc as stated in the op.

The possible buyer themselves have had it for 48 hours, well more now.

They might be on holiday.
They might be checking something out.
It might be fine.

cliffdiver · 13/08/2019 06:52

@Likethebattle In England a property isn't 'sold' until you have exchanged contracts and completed. Buyers and sellers can pull out any time prior to completion.

malmi · 13/08/2019 06:57

What is SSC?

malmi · 13/08/2019 06:58

Oh you mean Sold STC

Bluntness100 · 13/08/2019 07:03

I don't understand, why should they contact you? I've bought and sold five times and never once contacted the sellers after survey, as I was happy with the results. The only time a buyer contacted me is when they were concerned about something on it.

Why should they contact you? Are you assuming there is a problem?

PianoTuner567 · 13/08/2019 07:13

If no problems have come up, there’d be no reason to hear from them.

BookWitch · 13/08/2019 07:21

We bought last year. We didn't contact the sellers after the survey as there were no major issues. If there WERE issues, the solicitors would deal with any negotiations on survey issues, and we all know 48 hours is nothing - esp as the previous 48 hours to your post were over the weekend.

There is absolutely no need to worry based on what you've said

GoJetterGirl · 13/08/2019 07:32

48 hours is next to no time OP,

The buyers might be taking the time to take in the survey/ request info/ quotes for work that would need doing.

When I got the survey for the house I currently own, I found things that meant I was in a position to request a drop in price unless the vendor wanted to rectify them before purchase (safety issues-I’m not that petty)

I took around 4-5 days to contact vendor with regards to the survey results, because no way was I making such a big financial purchase based on 48 hours and and reading a survey less than twice.

089ville · 13/08/2019 07:39

I sold my house myself with purple bricks, I have been in regular contact with the buyer.

If it was a normal agency with next to no contact I wouldn't expect to hear

OP posts:
PurBal · 13/08/2019 07:41

I'm not sure why they'd contact you tbh. Unless the property is falling down.

happyasasandboy · 13/08/2019 07:43

It wouldn't occur to me to contact you unless I wants to ask a question about something the survey raised.

I'd expect to hear from the buyer's solicitor if there were any issues, but not that quickly.

PooWillyBumBum · 13/08/2019 07:49

We are currently buying a house. Didn’t contact sellers after survey as nothing I wanted to discuss, just proceeded straight to raising enquiries based on searches etc.

thecatsthecats · 13/08/2019 07:49

How would you even know they got the results of the survey? Our surveyor fucked up and wouldn't give us ours for about a week after (they thought we hadn't paid when we had).

We were supposed to get it at the beginning of a holiday, instead we got it just as we were getting back. Then I forwarded it to my parents for their advice etc. I only followed it up with the seller a week later.

MotherTime3 · 13/08/2019 07:52

We had zero contact with our buyers or sellers from the point of viewing, to ever again actually. Why do they need to contact you? If you are sold stc then the sale goes ahead unless someone stops it.

Sciurus83 · 13/08/2019 07:52

YABU 48 hours is no time, and it's been over the weekend.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 13/08/2019 08:05

I've never heard anything unless there has been a problem? In the absence of information to the contrary assume all is going ahead as expected.
