I’m so bloody pissed of .we have a decking area in our garden with a roof ,it’s where we used to sit quietly to eat our meals on nice days.
The lovely neighbors behind us have backed their trampoline so it is actually shaking the fence as all the kids bounce and scream.
I’m sick of it .their garden 4 times the size of ours ,they didn’t need to put it next to our seating area..and they can clearly see it is our seating area.
They have been on it all day screaming.
I’ve 4 kids ,so yeah mine made noise ,blah blah blah ,but I wouldn’t of ever put a trampoline next to someone’s seating area.selfish

Ours in near a fence. I am sure they feel that is the lesser of two evils. Trampoline Vs DS autistic meltdown.

Honestly the neighbours deal with so much noise from us that the trampoline pales into insignificance.

DarklyDreamingDexter · 11/08/2019 17:44

You have my sympathy OP. Same problem here with the neighbour's trampoline, which is actually the biggest one I've ever seen in a private house. Noisy, queaky and one of the neighbour's 4 kids in particular screeeeaamms from morn till night on it. Very selfish and antisocial.

fleshmarketclose · 11/08/2019 17:44

New neighbours over the road have put theirs in the front garden for some reason. The netting obscures the kitchen window and it touches side and front fence it is so big. They are on it from 7.30am to 11pm. The kids screaming is marginally less annoying than the father's bellowing though. I'm waiting for one of the other neighbours to start a petition as no doubt they will as it's a very quiet cul de sac other than them. No idea why they don't have it on the back when the garden is six times bigger.@BlamesFartsOnTheNeighbour are you my neighbour@ .

DaphneFanshaw · 11/08/2019 17:45

Probably because it would be in the way then simple, and tbh listening to squeaking noise from a trampoline will sound the same if it is next to the fence or a meter away.
We can hear next door but ones squeaking trampoline and it's a good distance away.

StoorieHoose · 11/08/2019 17:46

@AngelasAshes that all sounds hideous! Money can't buy taste as they say

SachaStark · 11/08/2019 17:47

Why does everybody need trampolines in their gardens all of a sudden? When I was a kid, a trampoline was a fun treat on a day out, like if there was one at the local farm play ground, not something you had at your own home. Personally, I don’t think they belong in suburban gardens with neighbours in close proximity.

And the reason why nobody puts them near their own house/the middle of the lawn, instead of far away against their neighbours’ fences, is because they know they are ugly as fuck!

Disclaimer: the neighbours whose garden backs on to ours have a trampoline in the garden. But they get a free pass, because the little girl NEVER screams whilst jumping on it. She sings Disney songs instead, and it’s the cutest thing ever. I get a lot of joy sitting in my garden listening to her singing.

Wiltshirelass2019 · 11/08/2019 17:49

Why does everybody need trampolines in their gardens all of a sudden? because they’re chavvy, common twats.

StoorieHoose · 11/08/2019 17:49

It's not the squeaking and the screaming it's the loss of privacy in my.garden with 2 sides have kids peering over and bouncing to get a right good look at what we are having for.our dinner

TinklyLittleLaugh · 11/08/2019 17:50

Our neighbours’ garden is at a right angle to ours, so the end of their garden is basically a few feet from our French doors and patio. And yes, they have put a trampoline there.

To be honest, I’m not that bothered about hearing them play when we have the door open.

If we are sitting out for a barbecue or a meal, DH says hello as their little heads bob over the fence and they scurry away looking terrified.

DaphneFanshaw · 11/08/2019 17:50

What finishing school did you go to Wiltshire?

chocolateworshipper · 11/08/2019 17:50

Tell them you've spotted Japanese knotweed growing nearby, and see how quickly they put the house on the market

StoneofDestiny · 11/08/2019 17:50

They can put it where they like

The attitude behind the neighbours none of us would like to have! Do what you like, where you like, as often as you like.
For the want of a few adjustments in behaviour, stuff the neighbours right to live peacefully and quietly in their own homes and gardens.

user1480880826 · 11/08/2019 17:51

Regardless of whether or not it’s anchored to the ground, you can still speak to your neighbours and ask them to move it. And tell them to change the angle of their light while you’re there.

BelleSausage · 11/08/2019 17:52

I fucking hate garden trampolines. They are an eyesore and nuisance.

I can’t actually see the point of having one unless your kid is training to join the British Olympic Trampolining Squad. My neighbours have one and it gets used for half an hour every couple of months and takes up half of their back garden and is a total eyesore.

I would check out local planning regs if I were you.

minisoksmakehardwork · 11/08/2019 17:52

Ours is to the side, not because it's ugly as fuck but because it still gives us use of the rest of the garden. Ours is right outside our kitchen window as it's the best space for it. I can see the garden more or less and easily monitor the trampoline. It's not next to a fence but that's only because we have a 4ft, maybe 5ft border which includes trees.

As for birds, well we feed them in our garden and I've noticed them sat on the netting or using the puddle on the cover as a bird bath. One of the kids jobs is to keep it clean so they clean leaves, bugs and bird poo off it themselves before use.

Choice4567 · 11/08/2019 17:53

@SachaStark no the reason I put my trampoline nearer the fence is so there is also grass space for the children to enjoy. I have a small garden, annoyingly. Would have liked a bigger garden but can’t afford it. A trampoline means the children can bounce; they don’t have the space to run around

I’m not a chavvy common twat either. But I suppose there’s no way of telling that just from me writing the sentence. When I was growing up we had a climbing frame with a swing and slide. What’s the difference?

NomDeQwerty · 11/08/2019 17:53

70 definitely has it with the bird seed idea. Do it as soon as it gets dark so it'll be all gone by the time they go out in the morning and the birdshit will have had time to bake hard. Crusted on birdshit is really hard to get off a trampoline.Grin 70 I like your style.

SmellbowSmellbow123 · 11/08/2019 17:53

@Tracklements

How high is the netting cage round it? They may have broken planning regulations height-wise. You aren't allowed to have play equipment higher than 2.5m within 2m of a boundary

A trampoline doesnt fall in to the category of “structure” and isn’t a building, enclosure or container.

PumpkinP · 11/08/2019 17:54

I can’t put it into the middle due to the weird layout of the garden. I wouldn’t put it against the fence if it could go anywhere else

DaphneFanshaw · 11/08/2019 17:54

Grin Tinkly, I wish that works for me.
Our next door but one children go to the school I do some work in.
Every squeaky bounce is accompanied by a shout of "hello Miss Fanshaw".
It's hardly the end of the world though.

TeamUnicorn · 11/08/2019 17:54

Trampolines are highly recommended by OT's for children who need to regulate.

Trampoline Vs shouting obscenities?

But yeah loads of chavy parents of children with autism. Hmm

minisoksmakehardwork · 11/08/2019 17:56

@TeamUnicorn - ours is used for the benefit of our sen children too. It's a great way of heading off a meltdown.

NomDeQwerty · 11/08/2019 17:59

But did you deliberately position yours in the selfish way that OP's neighbours have Mini?

LittleAndOften · 11/08/2019 18:01

Why does nobody talk to their neighbours any more? We have worked hard to build a good relationship with ours, so when issues have arisen (noise, broken fencing) it's been resolved amicably. My PILs won't even speak to theirs - very odd.

I appreciate if you have nutcase neighbours there's not a lot that you can do - but being provocative won't help either.
