Sorry, not a classic AIBU, posting for traffic

Family are on their way over snd have said they are bringing champagne. DD is 11 dsys old. I know the guidelines allow light drinking, but is that still the case with such a tiny baby?

Yanbu.
I drank champagne while bf. It relaxed me and helped take the edge off aches and pains.

Glad you enjoyed it Grin

@Proseccoinamug it is absolutely true. I have read extensively around this topic. It actually means very very low amounts in breastmilk. To die of alcohol poisoning your blood alcohol level will be around 0.4%. Orange juice is typically up to 0.5% and vinegar is 0.25%.

That’s good to know dciroshuntley - when I got notification of a mention,I was expecting a roasting for saying that 😂 thank you!

Um... What? Please somebody link me to these studies!! Who are these magical people who have said I can finally a have a proper drink?? I've been abstaining! My midwife said to treat it like drink driving - so one or two is acceptable, but then you have to wait for you blood alcohol level to drop before feeding. I don't live in the uk so maybe the research hasn't made it over here yet?

The bubbles made one of my babies very gassy and miserable - though the other one was fine. So I wouldn’t worry in terms of the alcohol, but do look out for any reaction from the baby. My solution was to switch to Guinness.

I read all the studies however I just can't see how it's true. Nearly everyone I know said that their child slept soundly or was hyper if they had a drink and then fed. Also if such a trace passed over Whi would it be necessary for ebf babies with a dairy allergy to go completely none dairy, surely such a trace would pass through.

Yanbu and actually unless you binge drink, drinking whilst breastfeeding is completely ok!

Enjoy
