………. and wide awake, as I am?

I am bored with trawling through MN to occupy myself.

AIBU to ask anyone else with insomnia to talk to me?

Morning. I’m up and awake for no reason at all. I just woke up about half an hour ago and the old brain clicked in to the day, unbidden by me. So here I am 5.30 on. Sunday morning, mumsnetting in silence while my family sleeps.

MrsMonkeyBear · 11/08/2019 05:39

I'm up.....but I'm about to leave for work. I have to cook breakfast for 65, so I'll pass on the E on T today but might have a bacon sarnie (loads of butter on white bread)

Mumsymumphy · 11/08/2019 05:39

I can't eat McDonalds eggs, they make the insides of my cheeks feel all 'fluttery'.

Palaver1 · 11/08/2019 05:43

Madonalds eggs don’t
Taste like eggs.Went for a wee drank too much.
I really should try and get some sleep.

Alwaysgrey · 11/08/2019 05:45

I’ve been up since 2.30 as my child with special needs woke me up. Her father of course is sleeping in her room. How nice. In total this week thanks to said child I’ve lost a night of sleep. So I’m grumpy. And tired.

barryfromclareisfit · 11/08/2019 05:46

Sorry I missed the opening post. I was setting off for the airport. That makes my life sound far more interesting than it is.

Mumsymumphy · 11/08/2019 05:49

Well I've just gone to bed and found my 2 youngest DCs in it, so I'm back downstairs on the sofa again 😡

baubled · 11/08/2019 05:50

I've not had a minutes sleep because I've been busy making balloons 🤪 (none to be released I might add)

Sforsh49 · 11/08/2019 06:04

@Sunflowers11 do it! McDs breakfast was always my last night drive home into rest days treat, I only do nights twice a year now instead of every two weeks and I still go on that last drive home!!

Jemima232 · 11/08/2019 11:50

In the end I made porridge.

Not Eggs on Toast.

Have I let the side down?

Jemima232 · 11/08/2019 11:51

And you can see by the time that I have just woken up.

I fell asleep with the electric blanket on.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 11/08/2019 16:05

HaHa @Jemima232!
I fell back asleep in the spare room and DH bought me a cup of tea around 8.30.

Still not had an egg yet!

Adollop · 11/08/2019 17:25

No eggs here either Sad

I had about two hours sleep, feeling shattered, but cleaning to keep myself awake. Hopefully I'll sleep tonight ..

Mumsymumphy · 11/08/2019 18:10

No eggs here either 😱

But my eldest daughter did return home after whatever night time jaunt she'd been on and made me a bacon butty 😁 then asked for a lift to her dad's house whilst I was still uncompus mentus 💤💤

Jemima232 · 11/08/2019 22:48

I've spent the whole day thinking about fried eggs on toast despite having porridge for breakfast and a roast chicken dinner this evening.

Am now going to bed and hope not to be back online at 2 a.m.

Sunflowers11 · 11/08/2019 23:21

@Sforsh49 I did!!!!! Think I'm pushing it going for another one in the morning thou 😂😝

Jemima232 · 12/08/2019 15:17

@Sunflowers11

You had eggs on toast?

Awesome.

I slept all last night so beat that.

Jemima232 · 13/08/2019 04:17

Well, I haven't slept a wink tonight so back I come to the laptop.

The cat was so pleased to see me that he had a big shit in his litterbox so I had to clean it out.

Thank you Buster.

I'm awake, dp is at work and I've got 12 month old dgs sleeping next to me and 11 year old ds next to him. Was woken by 2 of the 4 cats demanding breakfast. Desperately want to go back to sleep but it's just not happening Angry

Jemima232 · 13/08/2019 05:27

Hi Mouse I didn't notice your message as I was so busy reading the thread about people who smell.

It was engrossing.

There's one about Pushy Parents as well which is an eye-opener.

Why do cats demand breakfast (or any meal at all) whenever a human moves slightly?

OP posts:
Adollop · 13/08/2019 05:35

I'm awake ... I fell asleep at about 1.30, then dd texted to say she was on her way home, fell asleep again and was woken at 3.30 by lots of drunken crashing around 😫 Now she's asleep and I'm wide awake. I got up, made a cup of tea and brought it back to bed. I discovered she'd eaten my egg sandwich I bought yesterday that I was looking forward to having for breakfast Sad

Jemima232 · 13/08/2019 05:53

Bah Adollop that is most unfortunate.

There seems to be a theme going on in this thread concerning eggs and bread.

The cat is now purring next to me. He has a particularly loud purr.

It would keep me awake if I was trying to get to sleep. In fact I am not trying to get to sleep. I have given up on that idea as it is almost time to get up.

I shall wake DH soon. He does not deserve a cup of tea as he has been asleep all night.

Should I LTB?

OP posts:
Adollop · 13/08/2019 06:00

I'm fuming at the noise they made. Also about the sandwich.

My cat has gone under the duvet now, between my ankles.

Jemima232 · 13/08/2019 06:06

Adollop I don't know what's worse. Toddler DC screaming and having tantrums, or Adult DC having had too much to drink and knocking things over. Not to mention stealing egg sandwiches which were rightfully yours

My cat has changed gear with the purring and the other cat has got up and stretched herself.

She has also had a good night's sleep.

OP posts:
Adollop · 13/08/2019 06:13

It must be lovely to be a cat Angry

I'm not sure which is worse either ... I'm sure they think they're really quiet but at one point it sounded like they were throwing something very hard and heavy repeatedly at the wall .. admittedly I was half asleep, so not really sure what was going on.

I'm tempted to have words tomorrow about it, but it won't change anything and she'll promise not to do it again, only to do it again the next time she's out!!

The egg sandwich was a step too far though ....
