Who IBU. No food in the house

According to my DC and DH there is never any food in the house.

So last night is an example. DH said he was going to be late home and I was gong out. I fed the DC and he came home early. He ordered a pizza as there was "no food in the house". My DC and DH fridge gaze all the time and come out wit this statement nearly every day.

IMO if there was a problem in the world I could live off my store cupboards for a month I reckon. I buy fresh most of the time and cook from scratch most nights but still get this comment.

Apart from what I am cooking from scratch tonight and tomorrow this is what is available the cupboards and fridge: fresh ham, cheese, sandwiches, a litre of yoghurt, fresh fruit, popcorn, pasta with pasta sauces in freezer, bread, tins of soup and beans. These are not our regular meals, they are quick fixes that I use once or twice a week or for lunch. We don't have loads of treats e.g. chocolates and crisps at home but do eat them when out.

So who is BU? Is there no food in my house?

This sounds like loads of choice to me:

"Apart from what I am cooking from scratch tonight and tomorrow this is what is available the cupboards and fridge: fresh ham, cheese, sandwiches, a litre of yoghurt, fresh fruit, popcorn, pasta with pasta sauces in freezer, bread, tins of soup and beans."

They could make cheese on toast, cheese toasties, yoghurt and fruit, pasta, beans on toast, soup and bread, there's tonnes.

As to the poster who said she would be disappointed living with the OP... (!)...

What's stopping your DH and children buying their own snacks?

Were all guilty of feeling a bit this way sometimes I think. I’m hungry, I fancy X but there’s everything but X in the cupboard so if feels like there’s nothing I can eat Grin

My cupboards fridge and freezer are rammed. It's ridiculous. However I will look and day there's nothing. Because it's not what I fancy.. My. Mum always said growing up.. I always wanted what wasn't there.

The age of the children is relevant.
I don’t have quick snack/treat food in the house, I have ingredients and anyone is welcome to cook and bake. DS lost a lot of weight because he couldn’t be arsed to make cake and biscuits.
We have a shopping list everyone writes on.
DH is a grown up who lived independently for a decade before we met, so it wouldn’t occur to him to whinge.
