To think that sometimes MNHQ should leave an obvious troll post to stand

so that we can have some fun taking the piss.

Didn't anyone else wonder why the fact that Margaret was a teacher meant that the only time she could take her toddler to Saturday soft play was during the summer holidays?

There were many, many aspects of “Margaret’s” post that warranted a fair bit of wondering.

And yet very few people appeared to ‘wonder’ sufficiently before responding.

‘Twas ever thus Hmm

TheQueef · 10/08/2019 13:44

Maybe a troll museum.
Though it will become sought after.

colourlessgreenidea · 10/08/2019 13:47

So there was no trampled baby?

What aspect of the overwritten, melodramatic, “hello mummies” tripe made you think “oh no, a real baby has been carelessly hurt, screamed non-stop for an hour, then shat herself with stress”?

cricketmum84 · 10/08/2019 13:54

Anyone else see the post this morning complaining about only getting 12-3 hours sleep a night because her DH just wanted to shag all the time. And for 1hr 24mins every time? 😂😂

category12 · 10/08/2019 13:55

Meh. My main complaint with MN is them taking posts down because they're "outing" - and not at all because the poster's embarrassed themselves by their own pillockry.

ChicCroissant · 10/08/2019 13:55

I like the idea of the troll pit as a pool of examples - you'll need to do better than these posts to fool us trolls - but yes, there may be competition to get in it. Most of the troll stuff is easy to spot because they simply can't keep their story together. If it seems too dramatic for real life - it probably is!

Propertyofhood · 10/08/2019 13:57

Oh, I thought the OP was talking about the 'my DH is shagging me 8-10 times a day and I don't have time to wear my new jeans HEEEELP MEEEEE' post.

I thought Margaret was a genuine poster, which says a lot about the PFBness you see on here!

Whatafackinliberty · 10/08/2019 13:58

Any thread that has multiple email compositions by women who clearly wouldn't say boo to a goose in real life is a troll thread.

This. It’s funny how they only worry about outing once they realise that nobody is agreeing with them.

Yes. That was great fun and it was a shame that it went. I don't think anyone could have believed it was true.

Not so much for taking the piss but on some threads, by a troll or not, some people share really helpful info. They could close it to further posts and leave it standing.

Work12 · 10/08/2019 14:14

I really thought the trampled baby one was true and felt bad that i wanted to giggle at how pathetic the mum sounded. Maybe I'm naive or knew to mumsnet so can't suss out the true posts

Work12 · 10/08/2019 14:15

.....new*

isitautumnyet · 10/08/2019 14:16

I don't understand why you would make up a child trampling post ? Really what is the point ?

PlaceYourItemInTheBaggingArea · 10/08/2019 14:22

Trolling the troll, like trollception? 😂😂

Another one here for a troll pit!

CrazyPineapple · 10/08/2019 14:24

@cricketmum84 yes! And on top of all that she was pregnant by her neighbour. I wish I had that many hours in the day Grin

PorkHollywood · 10/08/2019 14:29

After the One Born Every Minute debacle I don't think it's a good idea, no. They need deleting, no matter how funny they may be.

Sistine Chapel is an exception, though, plus it may have happened (I'd like to encounter someone screaming in rapture at beautiful art).

colourlessgreenidea · 10/08/2019 14:31

Attention seeking. There are many categories of troll: beggar, fetishist, attention seeker, fulfilling a psychological gap, lifestyle fantasist, wind-up merchant/froth generator, etc.

Oh, and ‘lazy journalist’

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 10/08/2019 14:34

Brill
Because this place isn't already saturated with attention seeking fantasists

Hearthside · 10/08/2019 14:34

Well oviously i am no good at spotting them because i felt really sorry for them 🙈 and thought some were being harsh
Teach me 😳.

HouseholdPlantMurderer · 10/08/2019 14:38

I think there is one beggar currently working their way up to the "omg help" point🤔
Some trolling is funny, some is not

isitautumnyet · 10/08/2019 14:39

@HouseholdPlantMurderer which one ? Details please .

HouseholdPlantMurderer · 10/08/2019 15:15

@isitautumnyet I would rather not yet. I might be wrong

isitautumnyet · 10/08/2019 15:16

@HouseholdPlantMurderer fair enough .

HouseholdPlantMurderer · 10/08/2019 15:19

Damn it! We lost doggies🙄
