I'm a tall lady , (5ft9)in good shape(weigh 9stn) with a reasonable diet (I don't really cut much out and do have a sweet tooth but eat in moderation),in clothes I admit I look good, however the reality is once naked my body is disgusting. I've birthed 3 children over 10 years and each time the cellulite I've amassed has grown epically.it's not an exaggeration. My thighs, bum, front and back of legs and lower tummy are like bumpy matresses full of pocks and ripples. I work out 5 times a week weight lift and run and drink plenty of water but nothing is shifting it.I can't even look at myself in the mirror ,I feel so ugly i know it's unhealthy but it really affects me.I hate wearing anything short or summer clothes.has anyone got any advice to lessen it or anything which has worked?, I sometimes feel like just chopping all my skin off on my bum and legs.

From what you say your body works really well. You're really fit, you're healthy. You've given birth to three DC. And yet you're beating yourself up over how it looks.

Why not try a bit of gratitude? Gratitude for what you have - which is so much. And remember that other people won't even notice all those flaws you agonize over. Most of them will be thinking about their own concerns.

I speak as someone who lives with quite severe chronic pain and other significant health problems. I would be overjoyed to have your body.

EmeraldShamrock · 07/08/2019 09:43

I am another who believes your body is and has done great things.
Can you try to focus on something else.
I am also slim I've lots of cellulite on my butt and thighs, my knees are getting droopy but I am nearly 40.
Focus on all the good your body does every day, you can physically get around, your health is your wealth, cellulite will only effect your MH.
No ones is perfect, those who are use photoshop.

Coulddowithanap · 07/08/2019 09:48

I saw a thing on TV about cellulite, they tried different things to reduce it and dry brushing came top I think.

bubblesforlife · 07/08/2019 10:31

This is the site: www.endermologie.com/en/
It's a French company that produced this machine for what originally was burn victims. Where stimulating the skin forces it to produce more collagen which helps heal the skin. What it now has turned into is a go-to beauty regime for people like me. The machine is like 70k to buy, so only larger aesthetic clinics have it (if I could I would buy it LOL).
Everyone is different, I'm I my 20's so I still have collagen to produce, it reduces over time as you get older so depending on the severity and your age you may need up to 9?
You will see a change after at least 3, but once you follow the guidelines they provide you (don't leave and eat a McDonalds and some cake and do no exercise).
For a course of 6 sessions, to cover 3 areas I paid around 400-500.
I did back of legs, front of legs and bum, my problem areas.
They do it on 'Harley st.' but you can get it cheaper if you look around.
If you're in London, PM me I can tell you where I went.
It has been a year since I did it, I would like another 1-2 session to top up, but it's not needed fully yet. I mean it's not a life long solution, but it will last a while.

Andysbestadventure · 07/08/2019 10:37

Keto or paleo basically. Low sugar, low carb, no gluten.

Take a selenium supplement.

You'll see a huge difference within 12 months.

bubblesforlife · 07/08/2019 10:50

@andysbestadventure why selenium? I've never heard of anyone taking that?

WhatAMum01 · 07/08/2019 11:15

I'll look at the low carb thread.always so hard to implement diets with kids..that treatment sounds amazing bubbles ,will have to wait till I have some spare cash! My mum has similar cellulite to mine in her 70s.(I'm late 30s)admitedly as we were poor my childhood diet was terrible, comprising mainly of cheap high sugar carbs and very little protein and this probably started me on my high sugar dependancy.

Butters83 · 07/08/2019 11:44

erm cellulite isnt unhealthy, its totally normal?

Ask yourself WHY you dont like it?

fikel · 07/08/2019 13:03

I’m not a fan of mine either, I do think my high sugar diet doesn’t help despite being a healthy weight

WhatAMum01 · 07/08/2019 20:37

@butters83 errmmm cause I think Mine looks disgusting

Fatted · 07/08/2019 20:44

I used to know some one who swore blind rubbing deep heat on their arse and thighs every day was the cure for their cellulite.

Personally, I would just wear some Spanx and be done with it.

WhatAMum01 · 07/08/2019 21:04

@fatted lol lol I'm gonna try it hahaha

furrytoebean · 07/08/2019 21:09

Do you have a tan?

I had a spray tan recently and was like ‘oooooooh so this is how the other women do it’

goose1964 · 07/08/2019 21:17

Cellulite is just the way female bodies store fat in those areas. Basically fat is stored in pockets and it's the boundaries of these pockets make it look dimpled. You can make the surface a little smoother but you will never get rid of it. Dry brushing is supposed to be the best way

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 07/08/2019 21:20

Is it really as bad as you think? Your body fat must be pretty low at your height and weight so it’s hard to imagine you are covered in cellulite, I know slim people have it, of course they do, but what you describe does sound extreme for a very slim person as yourself.

WanderingTrolley1 · 07/08/2019 21:21

You have a severely disabled child, yet manage to go to the gym 5 times a week, swim and run. You are fit and healthy, yet some cellulite is making you want to chop your legs off. I’m sorry, but your perception/priorities seem somewhat skewed to me.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 07/08/2019 21:22

bubblesforlife thank you!!!

Delatron · 07/08/2019 21:42

I think it is really more genetic than you think. Therefore I think you’re going to have to give yourself a break? There’s nothing unhealthy about it, it is how you are genetically predisposed to store fat.

Realistically you sound very healthy and you have a slim figure. How often do you get your kit off? Not enough to worry about it surely? Fake tan and work wonders but lots of women have cellulite.

WhatAMum01 · 07/08/2019 21:51

@WanderingTrolley1effort into it despite wanting to give up most days.I didn't say I wanted to chop my legs of please reread ,I said my skin.it's the way I'm feeling about it and it makes me very insecure if that's ok with you.no need to comment just to get a dig in really

OP posts:
ElizaPancakes · 07/08/2019 21:53

Get some counselling for the disgust you feel for your strong, wonderful body, that has given life to three children and is healthy and fit.

I understand that we all have our insecurities but you sound like you’ve become completely obsessed.

WhatAMum01 · 07/08/2019 21:54

@WanderingTrolley1 just because I work out and have a disabled child and have insecurities doesn't mean I have skewed priorities. I am allowed to have a life and feel as I wish

OP posts:
WhatAMum01 · 07/08/2019 21:57

@Eliza not obsessed unhappy ,I'm sure you too must have your insecurities, you too must love it when directed to get"counselling".I'm on looking for advice from woman who have managed to reduce it,that's all fgs.

WhatAMum01 · 07/08/2019 21:58

@furrytoebean yes sounds like a good idea!

growlingbear · 07/08/2019 22:00

I had an overweight friend who had the most gorgeous even skin tone - not a bump of cellulite anywhere. She never drank tea or coffee, only fruit and herbal teas. I wondered if that was connected, as caffeine is a toxin and fat traps toxins (I think - or is this bad science?) to stop them from entering the body. You could try cutting out colas, coffees etc.

itsabongthing · 07/08/2019 22:05

Totally agree with @Prawnofthepatriarchy

I want to be kind because it sounds like it does cause you distress, but try living every day knowing/feeling you look horrendous with clothes on! I’m struggling not to feel very envious of you....

But day to day I just get on with my life, accept the things I can’t change and try to focus on what’s important.
