We’re supposed to be going away for a couple of nights at the end of this week. Couple of nights in a hotel, more than what we’d usually pay as it’s a celebration.

However, it’s a location that you really need good weather to enjoy and the forecast is atrocious , particularly Friday which will be the main day.

It’s an outdooorsy place, fairly remote, no museums or anything like that nearby. Can’t think what we would do in bad weather except sit in the hotel. Could just read or something but could do that at home! There’s not much in the way of facilities or pool etc either.

I’m thinking about cancelling, WWYD?

Anyone? BTW I have name changed as it would be outing!

If you'd get all your money back I would cancel.

Mammyloveswine · 06/08/2019 12:31

Who's going? Is it you and DH? Is there a spa? I'd just enjoy time together, a nice spa, daytime sex, afternoon drinks then get changed and have a nice dinner in the hotel restaurant, more drinks and more sex!

Vanillelle · 06/08/2019 12:32

If you can get your money back then you may as well. If not, take books and have a cosy couple of days reading in a nice hotel bar.

PrettyShiningPeople · 06/08/2019 12:32

Yes, won’t be losing any money if I cancel within timeframe.

I'd dress for the weather in the morning and go for a walk, have a pub lunch and then have a lazy afternoon and evening, watching films with nice food and drink.

TixieLix · 06/08/2019 12:34

Can you cancel that venue and book another hotel that has better facilities - gym/spa/pool - in case of bad weather?

CrispbuttyNo1 · 06/08/2019 12:34

Get your money back and go somewhere else

PrettyShiningPeople · 06/08/2019 12:35

Me & DH , plus DC. So no, sitting reading a book not really an option!
I’m just imaging listening to lots of moaning!

OP posts:
Mammyloveswine · 06/08/2019 12:35

Obv if it's you and the kids then try and and cancel!

PrettyShiningPeople · 06/08/2019 12:39

Unfortunately there isn’t anything like that in the area, we would need to go somewhere completely different. We chose the location as it’s not somewhere we’ve been before but it will be pretty bleak in bad weather.

Wingedharpy · 06/08/2019 12:39

I wouldn't want to pay to hear moaning!
If the PrettyShining family won't enter into the spirit of things and go with a positive attitude, then you may as well cancel.

NerrSnerr · 06/08/2019 12:39

Ah with kids I'd cancel and book elsewhere.

PrettyShiningPeople · 06/08/2019 12:41

And the trouble is there doesn’t seem a corner of the country unaffected by bad weather on Friday! I wouldn’t mind if it was light rain or an odd shower forecast, but looks like wall to wall torrential rain.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 06/08/2019 12:53

There must be a hotel somewhere else with somewhere nearby that has things to when it's raining.

Yes I would cancel.
I have been on holidays in bad weather and it's always shite and never worth it.
Do it as soon as you can.

Dollywilde · 06/08/2019 13:23

Was going to say reading/sex/food/wine/sex but if you’ve got the DC with you then I’d absolutely cancel.

Isitweekendyet · 06/08/2019 13:26

Cancel now.

Is there anywhere else you could go instead?

Pinkprincess1978 · 06/08/2019 14:32

I would probably cancel but... we had similar last week. Booked to camp and were going to specific area for an event so had to go buy didn't need to camp. Weather forecast was awful and on first day storms so we cancelled. 2nd day forecast was better and looked ok so we went. Even though got sat still wasn't great we had fantastic weather both days (we were meant to be there for 3 days). The last day the weather was so hot yet the forecast even that morning was poor.

So you never can tell.

SummerHouse · 06/08/2019 14:36

I would go. I never let the weather stop me doing anything. It's a rule of thumb that's positive overall and I have had some amazing experiences.

RainOrSun · 06/08/2019 15:09

Well, we are in deeper, darkest Wales.
Before we left at the weekend, yesterday was looking decidedly dodgy. Today was rain all day.
We have had blue skies for 2 days.
Forecast is also for rain for the next 2 days. Let's see what comes. I'm very glad we didn't cancel due to the chance of rain.

TrumpInflatableChased · 06/08/2019 15:19

I'd go to a city so you can go bowling, cinema, eat nice food and go to a museum. We do that a lot for the weekend but that's because we live somewhere that's really bleak with eff all to do when the weather is bad!

PrettyShiningPeople · 06/08/2019 22:17

I would usually say the same, but there is a weather warning on Friday and forecasters seem fairly certain about widespread torrential rain & storms.
