I have posted on aibu for traffic.
Our DD and family are on holiday so we are caring for her 2 dogs. The older dog(Gerald) has a life limiting illness and so cannot go for a walk. He's on 8 tablets a day, special diet. With the vets advice he doesn't go for a walk. We have a very big garden so he's happy. The younger dog (Cyril) gets taken for a walk late at night when my husband comes home. Otherwise I throw a ball around the garden for youngster to chase. He goes in and out of the garden most of the day.

Now to my point the nosey lady from across the road has just banged on my door and shouted at me that she is going to report me to the RSPCA for my cruel behaviour to these dogs. I don't walk them, she has said im not feeding as the older dog is very thin. I couldn't get a word in edge ways so just shut the door in her face. She then stood outside shouting and telling anyone who walked past.

Why do people interfere before knowing the true facts. Both dogs are trying to sit as close to me as the can. Snoring very loudly.

I'm sorry I can't post any photos as our DD comes on MN and I don't want her worring. Gerald and Cyril are not their real names.

Changing the subject slightly - My friend had a lovely springer spaniel and she named him Gerry Springer, Gerry for short.

sueelleker · 06/08/2019 13:30

MrsAJCrowley; what breed of spaniels are they? We have an English Springer (our 3rd) and her son, who is a Sprocker (Springer/Cocker cross) I love all spaniels.

Who the fuck does she think she is to behave in that way. Hope you're ok, OP Flowers

(in all honesty though, I probably would walk Cyril more, unless you're physically unable to do so - still doesn't excuse her behaviour though).

Hilarious that on a thread about how people are judging without actually knowing the situation, 2 people have done exactly that by suggesting you aren't walking Cyril enough..

I had a really old dog a few years ago who used to beg to be let in the very secure front garden then would just sit in the middle of the grass watching the world go by. She had a bit of boxer in her so looked really miserable. She also used to sit all hunched over like she had the weight of the world on her shoulders. She absolutely did look like something from an RSPCA appeal. She was, obviously, well cared for and ridiculously loved.

A neighbour made repeated complaints about me/the dog to the RSPCA. When they assured her that they weren't concerned, she escalated it to the police and handed them a massive lever arch file with dates/times/photos of the dog in the front garden.

I think she genuinely was concerned and I understand why but, seriously, a 10-minute chat with me about the dog would have put her fears to rest.

The neighbour sounds deranged

Mah, my terriers have only ever had one walk a day and lots of play/training in the garden, plus running after balls etc. It depends on the breed but ours have lived long and healthy lives at the correct weight, etc.
