We are going on a trip to France with a large number of children and a few adults. We return on October 31st- quite late in the evening. ( the day we leave Europe- maybe?)
Will we have border controls? Will we be stuck in the channel for ever? ( France won't want us back after 5 days of us!)

( semi-lighthearted!)

@Mamamia456
There are some parents coming.

They are Beavers and Cubs.

So obviously we have to 'be prepared'. ( Scout motto).

If I was starting a new civilisation- some of them wouldn't be my first choice!

So we're going with pants, tea, oars, spare boat and boiled eggs!

Cubs and Beavers? Easy, take lots of lollipop sticks, get each six to build a raft (points for the most impressive etc.), then keep chanting "ging gang goolie goolie" louder and louder as you use the rafts to cross the channel, the noise and will frighten off any border control and you can sail in triumph back into Dover (or wherever you chosen return port is).

Moonflower12 · 02/08/2019 09:28

@Icecreamsoda99

Excellent plan! I like that.

Packing list:
marmite
Cheddar cheese
Melton Mowbray pork pies
Yorkshire tea bags

Use them as bribes or emergency supplies depending on how things unfold.

Jinglejanglefish · 02/08/2019 11:43

Urm, no-one's land?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/08/2019 11:57

You could storm Mont St Michel and claim it as your own?

Moonflower12 · 02/08/2019 16:54

@MrsMoastyToasty
I shall not be sharing the MM pork pies! They're mine, alllll miiiinnnne!

@OhYouBadBadKitten
That is an amazing idea!

I'm sure anyone who (legally) lays claim to it , would soon give it up when faced with my Beavers! I'm thinking they'll be 'Lord of the Flies'-esque after a couple of days at sea.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/08/2019 17:11

That's definitely a plan then.

Especially if it was done in the style of Horrid Histories/Ghosts.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 02/08/2019 17:15

Aww I thought this was going to be about a Halloween escape room type outing Grin

Chartreuser · 02/08/2019 17:18

DD and I return from France that day so was wondering the same thing. DS14 is in a school trip to Germany until day after, I would say they can keep him but he's proving to be v sweet and helpful this summer shame it's not Fortnite obsessed DS10 however

CountFosco · 02/08/2019 17:19

We're flying back from Italy on the 2nd Nov. I dread to think what chaos it will be by then. DH is at least a European (Irish father) so he's taking both passports. Worst case we'll live off his wages from casual agricultural work.

Moonflower12 · 03/08/2019 09:47

@OhYouBadBadKitten

Do you have any particular 'storming' advice to pass on? Did you want to join us to assist?

OP posts:
Moonflower12 · 03/08/2019 09:48

@CountFosco
@Chartreuser

You are more than welcome to come to help with the Mont St Michel storming?

OP posts:
ForalltheSaints · 03/08/2019 09:56

Make sure someone is a fluent French speaker. The local people will be so shocked that they will be helpful in any crisis.

Chartreuser · 03/08/2019 15:59

Ooh will Google Moonflower12

Thankfully I'll have the keys to my step-dad's house I've just inherited my mum's share of so as long as can get back down South again would be fine. Speak enough to get by (don't drive but figure learning there would be less scary than S London where I live!) , can force DF to find his birth certificate to finally apply for Irish passport and have always wanted to live in France. Not sure DD12 would agree though Grin. And would miss DH and the other DCs.

And to be fair I'm more scared once I'm out they won't let me back in again Sad

Moonflower12 · 03/08/2019 19:17

@ForalltheSaints
I can get by in French but my accent is a bit dodgy. I'm thinking that I need to find out the French for Beaver....though that could lead to some misunderstandings?

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/08/2019 19:18

I'm splendid at storms. Sometimes. Grin

Moonflower12 · 03/08/2019 19:20

@Chartreuser
Bring everyone- the more the merrier!

Mint St Michel ( I think) is tiny. You won't need to drive. We can walk everywhere.

OP posts:
BlamesFartsOnTheNeighbour · 03/08/2019 19:21

Try and end your trip somewhere near Dunkirk, and we'll send some people over in little boats to bring you back.

Moonflower12 · 03/08/2019 19:22

@OhYouBadBadKitten

Excellent! You can be in charge of the storming. I'll look after the children.
And the pork pies.
