To tweet BA pilots that I earn less than the INCREASE they're demanding?

I earn 18000 a year. BA pilots are asking for an increase of 20000 a year. Yeah I know about skills and responsibility blah blah blah but AIBU to be upset that my holiday might be ruined? They're bleating in the papers today that they're upset that they now only get to stay in 4 star hotels instead of 5.

consider a twin flying from Noo York to England midway over the Atlantic one goes out, lets pray that the other manages to keep going. Else someone is going the have to do the ditch thats orders better than Sully of the Hudson!

However anyone know the last time that happened just the one failing?..

Or across any large Ocean expanse?.

I’m a nurse so my salary is a pittance in comparison but that’s life unfortunately . If there’s not enough pilots then travel /trade /the economy will be affected .
A shortage of nurses only means longer waiting lists and poor health care . I say that tongue in cheek as it’s actually so sad that health comes bottom of the pile

I'm a nurse too. Nursing salaries in the US are at least double what they are in the UK while pilot salaries are comparable. Perhaps you two should move here.

Did the OP come back and say what their job is? Was it comparable to that of a commercial pilot?!
It amazes me how people can't understand why others get paid higher salaries than them. There are many instances of high salaries that I don't agree with, for sure, but years of education and training, skills and high levels of responsibility and risk need to be rewarded accordingly. Why wouldn't it??

I get to travel there monthly but would hate to live in the US permanently . I love my part time job and besides , I don’t think that US pilots are as well paid as elsewhere .

While I feel people in position of such huge responsibilities definitely should be paid and treated as people who have such huge responsibilities; cancelling flights and ruining people’s holidays they’ve worked hard and saved for us commercial terrorism in my eyes. Same as when busses strike or tubes strike. They can demand their raise and want to be in 5 hotels but their argument that they are in 4 hotels doesn’t justify striking IMO

Takes two to tango, IAG make billions in profits, they decided (atm) not to settle, they are equally responsible for the potential holiday chaos.

The High Court has decided this strike & ballot is lawful, no mean feat in today's anti union climate.

If nurses over the last 50 years or so had been prepared to withdraw their labour, they too would earn far more but the Govt know they wont, so they get paid a pittance.

Yes good point just WHO are the most important people in our society?, had this arguement a while ago general consensus was Farmers (Food)!!
