No, I've never suffered an infestation. I get mice and other rodents in almost daily as I live rurally and I pick them and take them outside. I've even had to remove a live rat when the builders opened up the sewerage system as part of the building works and a rat ran into the kitchen.
Years ago I rented a house that came with a flea infestation. That was frustrating for a while, so I do appreciate that an actual rat or mice infestation compared to the occasional unwanted visitor isn't a pleasant experience. However, there isn't evidence of an actual infestation at this point, is there?
Sadly, a friend watched her darling dog die from eating something containing rat poison. It was a horrible extremely painful death and so any decision to use such strong chemicals shouldn't ever be taken lightly. Don't forget that a lot of this stuff gets back into the water system and there's plenty of evidence that our reliance on such strong chemicals is slowly killing our planet and ultimately, ourselves.
